BBI, Target and etailer-only?

Post by dragon53 » Wed Apr 02, 2008 7:59 am

Who will be BBI's merchants?

1) Since there was speculation that Target was dropping BBI, I noticed that Target.com no longer has the BBI P-51 Donald Duck and M1 Abrams on sale---they're back at $49.99 and $24.99, respectively. That doesn't suggest that Target.com is dropping BBI, although Target stores cleared out BBI tanks/vehicles.

2) Will BBI's future aircraft be etailer-only? BBI's 1/32 F-4J is etailer-only, so will that hold true for the SBD Dauntless, the upcoming F-104 and ALL future BBI aircraft?

Back to my one of original questions---does BBI plan to sell their aircraft (1/32 SBD Dauntless, F4F Wildcat) only through etailers like their 1/32 F-4J Phantom II?

From Badcat's blog (this makes me wonder if the BBI F4F Wildcat and SBD Dauntless will be sold only by etailers or will be sold at ToysRUs, etc. The BBI F-4J Phantom II is sold only by etailers):

" 1:32 Scale BBI Wildcat Slated For August Release

Blue Box Toys is apparently jumping into 1:32 scale toy airplane market with both feet with its announced release of the F4F Wildcat later in the third quarter. This aircraft is moving through different channels than is the norm as we are getting the Wildcat from a competitor/distributor rather than directly from BBI, itself. As such, we don't have a lot of specifics or product feature details at this time, nor will we receive a preproduction sample. However, the aircraft looks like a winner and BBI's reputation for good quality makes me confident we'll have a lot of happy collectors when the aircraft arrives. We have a fixed order that may be hard to adjust later so reserving your Preorder now is probably a good idea as general availability (off the shelf purchasing) upon arrival could potentially be difficult."
