Compatibility of XD Dragon and FOV lines?

Post by Fritzkrieg » Mon Mar 10, 2008 8:52 pm

I was considering purchasing some 1:18 Dragon Germans, I know the head sculpts are pretty lousy and the articulation is limited, but I was hoping th accessories would work with the FOV and XD figures. Has anyone tried ussing the Pouches Helmets and Ponchos on the FOV and XD figs. Another line I was looking into was the Intoyz Germans, are there any unique pieces, that would make this line worth purchasing.

Well if you want to talk about lousy detail, then the Intoyz is about the worse- avoid these unless you collect. As for the Dragon line, I thnk they are good, faces are plain, but you CAN swap heads with 21st C, BBI and FOV figures. I think I either ran a thread or replied to one on how to adapt the Dragon heads to 21C, FOV, etc.. Weapons are pretty much interchangable as far as I can see. I guess it's a personal preferance thing ;) But I can let you know that the heads are changable 8) Da General

As they are all the same scale, the weapons and some accessories are certainly innerchangeable between all three lines of 1:18 figures. Accessories that fit onto the figure using a peg and hole (like on the 21c and FOV figures) will be more difficult to switch without glue, but the rest of the accessories will work. Dragon, BTW, makes the best-sculpted weapons, haversacks, etc. between the three companies. The FOV weapons tend to be a bit underscaled.

Headswapping works pretty well, save that you might have to trim the peg on some of the figure's heads to make them fit on another manufacturer's body type.

Dragon troops are worth the accessories alone. There are numerous items that no one else has made. Tellermines, Faustpatrons, tent sections/bedrolls, MP-40s with removable clips and proper stocks, and Gewehr 43/Karabiner 43 semi automatic rifles, etc.. etc..
