Or contracting someone to anyway.

Sounds interesting though not in a scale I'll collect, but interesting nonetheless.

poseable too... I mean if there were nothing in the 1:18 scale I'd consider these right away I think.

it's not the actual US army that is making or producing the figures. They have commisioned them to be made through a toy company named Cosmic Clown or something like that. They do appear to be very high quality figures..

If I were the US Army, the Marines, Navy, Air Force, etc, I would take advantage of the recent boom in realistic small-scale military products - endorsing such companies as 21c, BBI, Dragon, Dusty Trails, Hasbro, etc. to make military themed products. Why? The potential for future recruitment. The military tries to hit us with TV commercials, billboards, magazine adds, equipment displays at airshows & parades, so why not start when the kids are young and target them at the toystore?
While some might argue against this on grounds of creating a military-industrial complex and the like - and then there's the whole thing about the US military endorsing something made in China - it would be an interesting and perhaps sensible strategy for the Military, as well as a boost for those companies.
Just an idea...
