Small Scale Military Headquarters

Today I picked up a 1/32 scale Marder III and I feel like I purchased a dirty magazine. I can't stop looking at it and I want to go out and buy more 1/32 stuff because frankly I can't find any 1/18th product. Help me...stop me. The Larger scale stuff is so sweet, but the smaller stuff is like crack. A little hit and no one will notice and I can sneek them into the house without the wife seeing them. Help me.

There is WAY too much cool stuff in 1/32. Don't fight it, it is a losing battle.

If it feels good, do it. You can always replace the little ones with 1/18 ones if and when they become available and sell off or trade the little ones. In the meantime, if you like them, enjoy. Personally, i just don't find them satisfying, so i don't collect smaller scale stuff....but that's just me.

And maybe you'll find a whole new smaller scale hobby in the meantime and be happy with 1/32 forever.

Just do what I do and collect both scales The 1:18 armor is certainly very cool, but the newest 1:32 releases are giving it some serious competition. A 1:18 scale Marder IIIM, for example, would not offer that much in detail and functionality over what can currently be found in the 1:32 tank. I realized early on when the first 32x tanks came out in 2002 that 1/32 was going somewhere and that it would be to my (mental) advantage to collect both

i'm with ya Tambo - have picked up a few 1:32 clearance items in the last few weeks but at the same time saying no to many of them - just remember 1:32 is great for trades when there is something 1:18 you missed or can't find in the future.
The Marder, 38T, and Hetzer in 1:32 look amazing and will do until we finally get Satisfaction in 1:18.

So tell us ... what is crack like?

It is too bad the stuff that is out in 1/32 isn't the same for 1/18th.

Seriously, if the 32X stuff gives you warm fuzzies then by all means go for it. You only live once.

BTW, I will scoop your 1/18 stuff if you ever decide it is too much to handle.

Alright !! Wait a minute. I will take this one . You other guys stand down. There is a big problem here and I think that I can fix it. Not for the weak at heart but sometimes hard love is the only way. Go to one of those country hardware stores. Buy one of the biggest bear traps that you can find. There is the possobility that you may have to go to an antique store to get one. Get it , open it up and put that dirty little 1/32 on top of it. Problem solved. You could possible adjust the spring on it so that it has a hair trigger. So when you just look at it it slams shut.
If this does not work out rent the movies Saw , Saw II or Saw III. There will be some dandy ideas in them to give you other ideas.

How do you think I feel, looking at it all in my warehouse all day and constantly having to say to myself "must... not... start... collecting... another... scale.... errrggh."

I must say there are some cool looking 32X items out, I have a few. If you like it pick one up. I don't many 32X on display but over the weekend I put my Panther next to its 1:18th big Bro and the King Tiger next to my 1:16th Tamiya KT..... .....For me its that WOW factor that 1:18th has the size and the figures that are offered.
Enjoy what we have in what ever scale you'd like but for me, my money is going to 1:18th.

Hell, I remember back when ya had to put these things together and paint em.

I won't even start on the dangers of 1/6 scale.

You made the rite choice! Hope to see you posting on the 1:32 scale forum soon.

I'm in the same boat buddy. With no new 1/18 aircraft in sight, I picked up a 1/48 P-40N for $5. It felt so good, yet so wrong.

1/32 scale is one of those forbidden territories that 1/18 collectors should never cross, nor even have it cross their mind. Sadly I went there yesterday and contemplated of all the planes I could amass with 1/18 out the door. Goodspeed 1/18 folks.

*yes, the 1/48 P-40N blows the 1/18 P-40B out of the water in awesomeness.

You guys are not much help. I feel like a freaking ping pong ball between the Hardcore 1/18 & 1/32 people. madness! Madness I tell you.

OK, Why should you have it any easier! I got a crap load of 1:18! A bunch of 1:6 (just a little less than a "crap load"). AND 1:32 stuff that they didn't offer in 1:6 or 1:18! And a spattering of 1:144.
Had lunch with a buddy of mine that loves jeeps, any scale! He is mostly into 1:6 and 1:32 with 52, yes 52, 1:6 scale jeeps. Said he didn't even have enogh Joes to drive all of his jeeps! Guess I'll have to let him have a few of my extras!

Ahhhh the force is too much. i found a 1/32 German 3 Ton Truck (model kit) for $3 at Walmart tonight. I just put it together and I love it. I think with a little self control I can find a little room for certain 1/32 Items. My heart is still with 1/18.

Anyone got a Grey 3 ton for sale/trade?

yep I found those for $5 and have passed on many others - I put mine together today too? The spot under the cab wasnt threaded for the screws....drove me nuts

I love both scales so I say run with it if your wallet can bear it.

For all the diehard 1/18 guys who won't touch other scales: what do you do in the 12 months between new releases? My fear is all there is to do is sit in your man-room caressing your old, tired releases while pining away for that King Tiger.

Of course, that is a great way to smooth out those big rivets on the S1 Mustang...

I make stuff and glue my fingers together with CA glue.
