Small Scale Military Headquarters

I bought the 21st Century Gray tiger tank about 6 or 7 years ago at TRU. I didn't collect any more 1:18th after that. Is this tank worth anything tp collectors or....?

They seem to be relatively common, and there are several up at ebay right now selling in the $30 to $50 range (less shipping) so you could possibly make a few bucks on it depending what you originally paid.

One of the best tanks in 1:18, IMHO, but they are somewhat common. It seems that the diecast versions in the Wal Mart Motorworks boxes will bring about a little more. Then again, they are diecast and saw a somewhat limited run in those heady first months that 21c was at Wal Mart...

actually mine is older than that. It is solid grey with an elephant logo on it, cannot remember what division that is, but it is solid grau with no detail at all, very plain. From TRU

Actually, it's not a divisional symbol, the elephant represents Schwere Panzer Abteilung (heavy tank battalion) 502 "Mammut" which was one of the original three SpzAbt. (501-502-503) that were fielded in the German army. SpzAbt 502 began service on the Leningrad front in the summer of 1942, and spent the remainder of the war fighting on the Eastern front. It's Tiger's would have initially been painted in overall Dunkelgrau, but likely would have spent much of the time in a whitewashed overcoat due to the harsh winter conditions in northern Russia for much of the year. Later during the war (in summer at least) these would have had various camo patterns of browns, greens, and reds, over a dark yellow base coat.

they repainted the grau base? I knew that late war primer was switched to gelb but i didn't know they would hit a grau tank with a gelb coat.

Probably a bit of both, but I'm not sure if there was a standard. Late in the war some German tanks (I believe these were Tiger II's if memory serves me) even rolled off the line painted in red oxide primer, so this is a difficult question to answer with any degree of certainty. I have seen pics of DAK Tiger I's that were painted sand yellow, and you could clearly see the grey underneath spots where the yellow had chipped away, so it seems that it was done, at least in some cases.
