I picked up a 21st Century BF-109 in the Seemann paint scheme at TRUs tonight. I already have this version, but I picked it up for a friend of mine. I noticed that the one I picked up tonight has the same great paint work as the one I got months ago. Seems the paint work on the BF-109s is really nice. I also forgot how nice the instrument panel is in the BF-109 model. Seems all this time I have had one, and never noticed this nice detail. The 21st Century BF-109 is a really nice model, and it is great to see the Seemann version in stores again.

I certainly agree with you on the quality of the 21c Bf-109G. Most of the planes I remember on the shelves of Wal Mart (including "Seeman") had great paintschemes. It is one of 21c's best aircraft in 1:18 scale, in my opinion. I'm hoping the 1:18 planes will eventually show at at least one of my local TRUs, as I'd be in the market for the "Seeman" '109, but if the M17 trailers were any indication, it will be December 2008

Tman, I wish I would have known you were looking for a Seemann BF-109. I would have gotten it for you. The one I got tonight was for a good friend of mine who is just getting into 1:18th scale planes.

Thanks Saberfan

However, its really not that critical and you don't need to get me the plane, just if the TRUs in my area carry through and I come across one, I'd probably get it. Still, if I change my mind...

Do you think 21st Century might re-release the BF-109 in the future. There are so many awesome paint schemes they could use.

The seeman I bought a couple of days ago had the damned tightest wing fit I can recall of the 6 or 7 109s I own.

I'm glad they brought 1:18 back, I got the rainbow candy cane USAF F-104. Man, I was so happy putting it together. That's my favorite part... Although I had to fight to get that pilot to brave his fears and pilot the damn thing... I know we had some problems on the early models, but come on, you have a 10% chance of making it off of the runway!
I love it. Absolutely. I love Starfighters...

Yes the F-104 is a great model. Tell your Starfighter pilot he will take of ok, it is landing the F-104 with its high landing speed that is the problem.

THAT'S WHAT IT WAS! I read a whole article on it and it was the landing speed because of the small wings, right? They have no surface area, no lift, and to stay airborne for landing you have to be going pretty fast, correct me if I'm wrong...

The approach speed of an F-104 is around 170-180 knots, with a landing speed of around 150 knots. Not a lot of room for error bringing the Starfighter home.

Not at all... He was also afraid of those early model down-firing ejection seats, but I told him that was taken care of. He's on the ironing board, errrr... runway awaiting take-off...

I saw Seeman and TRU today and decided to read the forum before purchasing. I'll be heading back there in a few minutes to pick it up. $40 isn't a bad price and no shipping to worry about. TRU also had the Corsair Bunker Hill version. Planes have been turning over rather quickly at TRU because the Mig and F104 I saw last week are gone. Good to see planes moving off the shelf at TRU.

You guys are right! The BF-109G is one of the best 1:18 aircraft out there, from any company. 21st was definitely setting a standard with that one. The Spitfire is just as nice IMHO. The latest Me-262 Nightfighter is up there as well.

The Bf-109 certainly tops as far as quality and detail are concerned. The only real flaw is that 21c forgot the tall radio mast mounted on the rear cockpit canopy. The "Seeman" plane is quite nice and unique in that it has the noseart. Certainly worth the purchase if you find one!
