That is a nice looking P-51. Where did you get it? I sure wish BBI would put that one out again.

Welcome buckyroo! You started out with a bang as I have never seen or heard of that ANZANC Mustang. What a beauty!
Could you give us the story behind the procurement of this bird?

Thank you for the welcome.
This is how I came to know about the BBI RAAF items. I was searching Ebay for 1/18 P-51's well over a year ago and at the bottom of the search was the listing for all of the "Ebay Store Sellers". This beauty was pictured with with a listing so I looked at the sellers items. The seller was from Australia and he had this P-51, an polished RAAF P-51 (with sharks mouth), and an RAAF F-18. All three are BBI 1/18 and limited edition marketed in Australia only. I didn't buy it because it was listed for $175.00 Australian dollars (about $150.00 U.S.). I watched for less expensive listings, but they never came.
Time passed and I started to realize that I had missed some great warbird paint schemes and I wanted to do what I could to get the one's that I truely wanted. So a recent internet search confirmed to me that the RAAF was truely a BBI exclusive. See this link

Continuing my search I found two Australian stores that had listings for them, but one had an out of stock note. The other listed the two P-51s (Camo and Polished) as in stock and part of a limited edition of 200. I decided not to let this one get away and now you can see from the pictures all is well in the end.
It was hard to decide to open this one for it was the most expensive in my collection, but I didn't buy it for resale. I have only 1/18 airplanes and I buy them for my and my sons enjoyment (mostly mine though) . Plus pictures of a box with a dissasembled airplane doesn't do this beauty justice.

Welcome aboard. Those camo 51's are nice. They were only released down under. The natural metal is nice as well. They still are available. Google it and there are a couple of dealers who have them. I forgot the dealer were I got mine from but they do look good. I was able to make a deal with the vender for buying both. But they still were a little pricey. At the price I have kept them both in there box.

Welcome aboard! These schemes were limited to 250 pcs each (2 P-51 schemes and 2 F-18 schemes). They were specifically commisioned for Mega Model Mart in Australia.

Buckyroo wrote:Hello to all. From the looking around that I have done, I have seen some very nice collections. Most of my collection is still packed away due to remodeling work around the homestead. But, once my new office is complete then I will get to release them from storage and get some new pictures for posting.
I can show you all my newest addition - a BBI 1/18 P-51 RAAF Camo. I have heard that it is one of 200 limited editions released in Autralia only, but I have not been able to confirm this. If anyone knows for sure, please pass on the information. So take a look and see what you think.

I was looking to buy one last year , but the cost of shipping put me of & glad it did
Going by your photo The the wheel cover is to short
It should be just under half way over the tyres
The same problem is on Armour 1/48 P51 D

Welcome Buck:
You indeed have a rare bird.
I purchased both Aussie mustangs from the same vendor. It was not cheap. $300.00 US. for two birds shipped 1/2 way around the world.
The limited number made it worth the price.
Welcome to the board.

I just can't get that excited over the wheel covers, it's a standard BBi Mustang just with different paint..
I have both the Aussie Mustangs as well and I think they were well worth the dough as I doubt they'll ever be available again.
