This question is for you modern army uniform/equipment experts:
What is the semi-circular side pouch that comes with some of the modern BBI guys (attached to a belt)?
For example, the pouch on the right side of this picture:

Is it just a general-purpose pouch or is it specific to some kind of equipment?
Thanks!

This board is the best - I knew you guys would know! I honestly wouldn't have guessed that.
I don't think NBC gear has had to be worn in combat (for actual protection vs. "just-in-case") since WWI, right? But better safe than sorry with some of the crazies out there I suppose. Seems odd they included it with the recent BBI Delta guy, but maybe specops guys carry the extra gear just-in-case too?
Anyhow, thanks again.

Well, if I were in battle and someone threw tear gas or something, I'd rather be able to open my eyes than get shot up like a pig... Also dust and stuff it can help, ya never know.

It depends on the mission, you either carry it or keep close by, but you always take it on deployment to war or police action, no matter if it some small country like Haiti.
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Let me hear your guns!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Your guns! Ack, ack, ack, ack, ack!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: [fires his airplane's guns] AHHHH!
