Toy Fair... Will We See Diddly Squat?

Post by Jesse James » Mon Jan 07, 2008 11:27 pm

So, upon doing some Toy Fair research for my other hobby, it seems 21st IS going to attend Toy Fair in New York City in about a month or so... I'm shocked. I don't recall them being there last year, were they? Or the year prior?

My memory's bad, so perhaps I'm just remembering wrong too... Regardless, they are in attendance. I haven't seen our other favorite toy lines listed, but I'll keep checking...

Wonder if the line's being shopped around more this year?

I also now see:

Forces of Valor's parent company, as well as BBI (Blue Box Toys) are on tap for the show... Not sure if they've done them in the past either. I could've sworn 21st didn't go last year at least though.

Wonder what the deal is...

Wasn't Toy Fair '07 where the whole Admiral Toys-21st Century F-4 Phantom debacle happen? I also believe that BBI finally confirmed the Hellcat going into production. That's what I seem to remember.

Yep that's where it all started. Admiral already has said they weren't going to be showing anything new save thier cars (correct me if I'm wrong). I can't blame them for it though. So I'm not expecting much from the big three.

With any luck 21st might show some of these new Dual Packs and the new subjects/troops they'll be offering. How about the S 2 King Tiger and S 2 88 paint schemes.
I'd like to see FOV come out with more 1:18th armor just like their 1:32nd stuff.
We'll see................. 8)

unless FOV has some kind of plan to sell 1/18 outside of Target i don't think we'll see anything from them, since the line is an exclusive.

21c is there every year....maybe this year we'll see prototypes of the F-4, Mig 21 and B-25 that were announced nearly a year ago. Some progress must have been made by now, one would think. Maybe even a new piece of armour or two?

Let's hope AT surprises us with a production version of the Dauntless on display...it should be out soon, i would think.

BBI is normally represented by Merit but aside from Warrior of the World figures and maybe repaints i'm not too hopeful of anything new from them.

Last year we got the first look at the 1/32 AC and they also had the new figs all packaged up. The most exciting thing was the first look at the Brit Para. Hopefully more new figs on display! :D

I'd like to see BBI introduce more 1/32 F-4 Phantoms since the F-4J appears to be very successful.
Also, I'd like to see an entirely new 1/18 plane.
Has BBI discontinued its 1/18 F-16 "Wolf Pack"?

Annoucement : to all going to theses exhibitions in the US :

Could evryone going to attend the differents toys show ask the 21st century toys representatives when the F4 mig and B 25 will show up ?

I am, as a lot of people here disgusted by this whole affair ! and it turned bad finally for all of us :

- For the members of this forum & all the fans because theses item will take so long to be produced and the communication between the companies and us is more secret than ever

- For jason & admiral : because for a young company it's a hard pill to swallow ! (let's hope that they will respond by a surprise A10 or F14 ! ...)

- For 21st CT because it make them appear scared by a young competitor ! and using some strange methods...

So let's keep on going after 21st century toys and teach them not to announce false alarms !... and keep their promises

I am in France , it's a bite out of my reach ! it's up to you my American friends ...

while waiting for theses models i am going to wait with the next A1 skyraider from admiral (near father's days release)...
1/18 mirage 2000 & RAFALE should i say more ?

Last year I visited all of our favorite manufacturers at Toy Fair. 21C and Admiral had booths about the same size (kind of small for 21C compared to years past) but the FOV booth was twice the size of the other two. Such nice small stuff almost makes you interested in 1/32 and 1/72.........almost.

Don't know if I'll attend the TF this year. I'm still kind of ticked off at the news last year from the 21C booth that their 1/6 was dead except for weapons packs and 21C didn't show much 1/18 at all. Is 21C going to have 1/18 follow suit and disapear like 1/6? Maybe they will wait see what the 88mm, KT sells this year and maybe next years B-25.......or is it the year after next B-25?

Since Admiral is still trying to bring out the Dauntless (and my fully paid for pre-order is now over a year sitting in somebodies bank account 8) and still no news of the Dauntless) so I can see the B-25 being another over two year wait like 21C's Avenger. Some really nice 1/48 and 1/32 versions of those planes are around so maybe they deserve a look......

Don't be fooled by their small booth. This year they are going to do the unthinkable and surprise everyone with a production A-10 at Toyfair!

Credible Source: My lucky coin.

And here I thought I was the only dreamer here. A-10 by 21C......LOL.
Yeah sure, to be released right behind a 1/18 Pacific Armored Tractor with the trailer and a M-26 onboard. AND that is being released right after the 1/6 RC Panzer III. Yeah, right.

1/6 Prototype Panzer built. Announcements made, all us "dark side" 1/6 guys had our mouths watering with dreams about our 1/6 Stuarts doing battle with the Panzer.

AND THEN?

What Panzer? says 21C. Panzer? "We ain't got no stinken Panzer.....we don have to show you no stinken Panzer". Somebody turned the prototype into 6,000 chopsticks.....so solly, no, it was burnt up, no, it was thrown out by accident, no we never made it. Who cares about you 1/6 guys anyway, go buy from Dragon, or DID or the dozens of small guys building really nice vehicles and more companies making your sissy mandolls. 8)

Want to talk about the lomg awaited 1/18 Papa Bush Avenger? Same story.

BLAH, BLAH BLAH.

Is there a link to a 1/6 Panzer or was that just a rumor? That would be cool but I guess you'd need a store willing to carry them, and after Stuarts piled up and then clearanced out at WM I could see how they weren't interested.

Digger:

One of the 21C annual catalogs that they handed out at TF years ago, included pics of the 1/6 Panzer.

You are correct, after the Stuart selling disapointments, the Panzer went south.

Last year I tried to sell the idea at TF about limited productions of the Panzer as well as the Scout Car and other 1/6 best sellers which they could sell direct or through etailers. They were polite but I got the distinct feellng of "Go away boy, you're bothering me".

Actually, they were polite (they are always polite, even when my badge doesn't say "buyer"). Always gotta hand that to them.

I agree they should run off a couple of thousand Scout Cars and Motorcycles with SideCars. Both those hold their own in detail and are still in great demand.

If DML or DID can make a "limited" production run, sell out and make a prodit, I don't understand why 21C can't do it. Run off a thousand and if they sell quickly, wait a year or two and do it again with a new paint job.

DID is bringing out a "251" half-track as a limited run in your choice of five paint jobs. and metal construction. The run is susposed to be selling well with a run of around 1,000 pieces. It would be sold out now but there is a problem with angles in the rear armor (1/6 has more bolt counters than 1/18 ), that is susposed to be corrected before release. With a price in the area of $800 to $1100, I hope it is, but I'm in for one anyway based only on DID's prior metal Kettengrad and Nubelwerfer releases. Great pieces.

21C misses a great opertunity with limited runs of 1/6 or special stuff like a B-25 or even other bombers sold thru etailers or the old "direct" store.
