Proudly displayed is 95% of my collection. The only stuff I keep MIB are extras I've picked up on the cheap waiting for the day I can use them for trade. I doubt there is much of a demand for BBI LAVs right now though...
Call it my XD hedge fund.

I have a small portion on display in a small room where we live now. Retiring from Army this summer so will have a man-cave room soon in our new house where I will rescue my collection from the 10X20 storage unit I'm currently using for the rest of my collection.

After my move, what had been all over my old house, is now in my office and my garage (for the big 1/6 tanks, trucks that can't fit in my office).
Final plans will be 1/18 on shelves in my office,,,,1/6 tanks, etc. on shelves in the office now and in garage with a work area for painting and working on stuff in the garage.
I have some boxed 1/6 stuff and some 1/18 and 1/32 stuff for trade, sale and that is on shelves in both my office and the garage.
Still missing 1/6 figs, tank parts (T-34 turret) and a horse. How do you bury a horse? Answer, under the unpacked boxes of Mrs. TTT's junk.

My collection has a room all to itself, the Museum as Mrs. Normandy calls it. Aircraft hang on the walls and from the ceiling and armor and figures are on shelves I built.

Same here normandy.
I don't understand the whole "in the box in the closet" deal, but if you plan to resell them at a later time then you're not a collector.

Most displayed in my home office, except for when the company auditor is due every 6 months, when it hits my bedroom for a day. The rest is spread around the house in cupboards and top shelves of the store room. I was forced to sell my $35,000 star wars collection for $5000 and also take up a lockup off site storage shed which contains the boxed xd, around a dozen and all my other collections such as smurfs etc. xd has forced itself on me in a big way, just dread waking up one day and saying why am collecting these bits of plastic.

Definitely played with all over the place, and in dioramas. If I had a dog it would have lead poisoning by now.

Most of mine are boxed up in an old bank vault.

Being able to select more than one option would be great, as with me its a mixture. Some of my stuff is out on display, other pieces are stored in a cabinet (sort of like a display), some are dismantled in storage boxes, some are in my attic but out of the box and in one piece, and others are back in their original boxes.

Well mine are in the closet and out on display. Mostly my 1:32 stuff is out on display.

My 1/18 Military stuff fights for shelve space with my 1/18 Diecast car collection. After my next move, I hope to have room to display almost everything.

100% out of the box and on display!
Leaving a 1:18 aircraft in the box is like putting a berka on a Victoria's Secret model.
It's just not meant to be!

almost all my vehicles are out of the box - half in my office and half in my closet on the top shelf - my choppers will hang in my office and I have four planes hanging in my son's room - the rest are boxed in the storage shed - figures - some boxed away some out being played with - I have too many figures - keep them comming.

Mine are in my computer/work room. This is an older set of photos, as I have added about five planes since then:
As you can see, I created a criss-cross network of fishing line and then hung each plane from that. I can adjust the planes slightly to change angle of hang or tilt.

I collect so many different scales, it's hard to quantify.
Most of my 1/6 scale stuff is in storage, as is almost all of my 1/18. However, about half of my 1/72 scale stuff is out, and about 80% of my 1/700 scale stuff and nearly 100% of my small scale (1/2400 Star Fleet Battles) stuff is out on the shelves.

A good chunk of the collection is displayed at home in my living room and bedroom, and has begun taking over a spare room upstairs, as well. And I usually cycle about 4-6 planes and 8 or so armor pieces (plus support troops) through my office at work.
