XD Vietnam era M16s available

Post by ParatrooperCarbine » Thu Feb 10, 2005 12:35 pm

If you need M-16s for your XD Vietnam guys, some of the new GI Joes come with one that is perfect. It is actually one of the earlier molds-came with the forst Grunt figure in 81 or 82. I think that mold is correct for the Vietnam period.

There are two in the Zap/Grunt/Snake Eyes 3 pack. There are others, but they escape me at present.

There is also an upcoming 6 pack of Joes in standard green unis. They are supposed to be new recruits. I believe that set has some of the same M16s. Maybe even 5 or 6 of them.
My good trader/reference list:
Razor17019, raiderad6, nomo4me, SGT Fury, don, JOC, DIGGER, immeww2.

Correction:

The Zap/Steeler/Grunt "Vintage Comic Inside" 3-pack set has 2 of the M-16s that you could use for Vietnam. "Vintage Comic Inside" 3-pack sets #1 (Cobras) and #3 (Abernathy, Clutch, and someone else) each have at least one of those M-16s.

But the Green Shirts 6-Pack does not have the one I was talking about. It has M-16s, but they are the kind that have the M203 mounted underneath. These might be the rifles the old Footloose figure came with. Not sure. But they aren't the ones that come with those 3 (at least) 3-packs.

If anyone needs M-4s with the foregrip, some of those will come with the new Crimson Guard sets.

Whats this about the Joe recruits 6-pack? It sounds kind of cool. I have largely stopped collection GI Joes over the past four years, save for some cool releases such as the Cobra infantry builder pack. Is the new recruit pack out yet?

Either they just came out or they will be out very soon.

I'm informed by someone that while the new M-16s in these packs are very similar to the old ones, They are actually a little more detailed and truer to scale. Still the same model of rifle.

In my eyes that is even better.

Thanks. They are indeed out as I just found it avaliable for order on amazon.com! Thats the kind of GI Joe I like - normal looking figures in standard uniforms. The recruits nonetheless have their own individual attributes. There are also a couple of Crimson Guard builder packs coming out in early march. These figures, with removable helmets look cool.

The Crimson Guard sets are AWESOME, except why the hell do we want a Firefly in both versions? I mean, you get the Tomax Version and the Xamot version and you have 2. Most people probably already have several Fireflys. And if you want to use them as troop builders, as intended, you end up with a pile of FFs you don't need, at the expense of more Guardsmen.

:(

On the plus side, the Guardsmen are awesome. In 1986 (ish) I put a Dial Tone head on a Guardsman to make an officer. Guess I was ahead of my time!

That M-16 that the 6-pack recruits come with are from Leatherneck in 86. It is over sized for 1:18th scale. The M-16 that can with Grunt in 82/83 is small. He is still one of my best condition figures because he didn't get played with as much as others. It is smaller than the one 21st C made and in an odd shape. This new M-16 that is coming with the 3-pack Vintage Comic sets have strap loops. Which none of the older one had, plus looks more like the real thing.

Paratrooper,
You can never have too many Fireflies, lol. The first version gray and black is my favorite figure. When I was a kid the backpack with open to reveal the tools was sweet. Fun thing about joes is I think every kid customize their figures. I made an elite Crimson Guard from the head, arms and legs from a Guard and the torso of Low Light. I think I did that because the Low Light was broke and the torso of the Guard was the some.

Leatherneck! That was it. Great gun. Now I have no idea how I didn't see that the 3-pack version was nicer than the old one. Guess time has faded my memory of the original ones. :)

just confirming that the greenshirt (basic joe troops) 6 packs will have the m16/m203, the CG sets look like they come with m4 RIS models,

and for anyone looking to get there hands on ak47s with bayonets get the oktober gaurd sets, lots of AKs

cant wait for the basic troops, nice to have some generic soldiers, with a little of paint job, i think these will be really good
