Boy, based on the discussions of the last few days, I can see what 21C means by planes being their best sellers. Most of the talk has been about news on planes, and only a little on everything else.

The one question I would love to see answered is will we ever see figures in the brick and mortar stores, or will they only be online. I wouldn't be surprised if the Japanese only are online line the Marines, but for the movies tie-ins, I'm surprised if not at the major retailers, they wouldn't show up at Sam Goody and Suncoast like other movie figures. Speaking of the Japanese - within the next six months! Man, that's great. My marines will have to give them a warm welcome when they hit the beaches at my house.

For the movies tie-ins, this should get interesting. For Bridge Too Far and Platoon, how many figures will we get. A series of 6-8, or just 3-4? Will we see Sky Captain figures (hmmm, Gweneth - not to crazy for Ms. Jolie's eyepatch). How many Sahara figures, and will we get some African military figures to go with Vietnamese and Afghani soldiers?

And for the Fan Club PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE (21C, hope your listenening) bring the Huey helicopter crews to the Fan Club Store like you did with the Vietnam tankers. I had bought too many helos before the fully crewed Hueys showed up, and its been torture I can't get crewman for the choppers. While I'm wishing, how about bringing the NVA/VC back in a similar manner? I won't make the same mistake of buying too few this time.

Just some ramblings

Figures

I think we will see figures in stores eventually, but I can see the pegs being an issue. Unlike boxes that can be stacked atop the garden section - figures need to be in the toy dept. and on pegs. Many of us have seen the Spring plan at WM and while there is space for the 1:18 assortment, I did not see space for figures. Hopefully the summer plan will look different.

There will be no SkyCaptain figures if I remember an old thread correctly. From the look of the box and promo pics they did not license the actors' likenesses, so don't expect any.

I'm so glad the Japanese will have the new articulation - they were cool looking before but now they will be cool & more functional!! :D

as much as i would like to see figures hanging in stores, who says it wont be the same distribution as all other 21st century stuff is in WM

if they got some consistant stock i would take a look, but as of yet i have to drive to 5 different stores and maybe one will have what i am looking for,

i'm super pumped about the new figures, but i think i will probably stick with online retailers just to avoid the aggrivation of driving to multiple stores and coming up with bupkiss.

Good point! If Wal Mart can't keep even one repaint of an aircraft release in a store, whats to say a collection of 6-8 small carded figures? Imagine driving around to find only "Zippie" Burns USMC figures at your local Wal Mart (if even that) when you wanted the "Digger" MacHugh figure! Its a very good thing we have small retailers!

Yeah I can see that now...

All the Ardennes Germans showing up in Cali with the U.S. Jeep Driver being the only figure to ship to my neck of the woods while the South get the BAR Gunner and rifleman, but only in EBF Minnesota can you get either Tanker... ;) Of course figures ship by the cases, but I could see an area not getting any figures considering my neck of the woods never saw certain product, or if we did it was highly limited while it sat in other areas. The figures, I can't imagine, would be any different.

I'm not a fan of online, but short of TRU reworking something or Target getting in on this, figures at stores don't seem too likely. WM treats 21st product like it's got some disease that's going to infect the rest of the department unfortunately... I wouldn't say they're doing too many favors for 21st in my view.

you got that right, but for all the walmarts in my area its like they treat the whole toy section like that, they are always in shambles with a lousy selection and if they do have anything in stock it seems to be wall to wall spiderman, curse you walmart and you monopoly over toy retail.
