Does anyone like the FOV Tiger tank?

Looks like a kind of a not so warm welcome here for the new FOV tiger tank. I saw one today, and I didn't buy it. Does anyone like this tank model?

Even if I have about 50 tanks, I still want more :P
Not all the Tigers looked the same as mentioned before in different threads. I don't have any ...yet, but look forward to adding some to the collection. At $30 each, I could afford to "Blow up" some when getting around to my next filming. Personally, I think I will blow up more shermans than Tigers tho  But someday, the new FOV items will make it down here, I hope  Da General

I've only seen pics of it but hell yah I like it!
Yes it does have some errors which are fixable, the biggest of which is the missing outer 8 road wheels. I'll have make molds and cast some extra wheels.
The only problem I have with the tank is...........Can't find the dang thing.

Not sure what you mean by that, but I wouldn't say it's received a hostile reception by any means, if anything the comments have been fairly evenly split both pro and con as far as I can tell. I will definitely be getting one for myself, primarily for the customization potential, which I don't believe will be as difficult as some people are suggesting.

since the FOV Tiger is so inexpensive and may well go on discount at some point, wouldn't it be easier to just buy a second one, remove 8 of the wheels and use the rest of it for scrap parts?

I like it, can't have too many 1/18 WW2 tanks especially Tigers. Plus as mentioned, can't beat the price. :D

>>> That's a very good idea "aferg" . I did'nt even think of that myself , yet ,.. and I'm surprised that nobody else did either.

Based on the photos and descriptions so far, I don't think I'll get one. I just think it will pale in comparison to my 21C S1 Tiger. I'd rather put the funds toward the two to three 21C King Tigers that I plan to get!

At the rate things seem to be going, if you set the money for two aside now, you will accrue enough interest to buy the third by the time it's released....

I haven't decided on the FOV Tiger--I want to see one in person first, I guess. But knowing me, I'll end up with at least one or two.

My thoughts exactly. I already have 3+ Tigers already. As mentioned before, you can't beat the price, period. However, if you have the 21st version, it's hard not to put that money toward figures.

for me, the zimmerit finish alone is reason enough to get one. It's the only piece of german armour available that has zimmerit on it and zimmerit was a very common sight on german tanks.

Although I've only seen pictures, my first impressions are mixed. I can't say that I greatly dislike it, but the FOV Tiger is also not that great in my opinion. The price, road wheels, and zimmermitt are positive points in my opinion, but as another boardmember said, I'd rather use the space the FOV Tiger could take up for the 21c King Tiger and 88mm gun.

However, if I eventually come across the FOV Sherman, I very well might get that. From the box pictures, it appears it will be a different version from either the 21c or BBI tank, and even if it lacks the finer details, the tank should fit into my collection better than the Tiger

Yeah but they missed the zimmermit on the front deck :? This needs to be done to be correct. I also have noticed that the FOV has MORE detail on top of the turret than the 21st. The Mg anti air ring is in the WRONG location on the 21st. RIGHT on the FOV. But it is molded in one solid piece that distracts big time.

Bet we'll see them before too long, by spring anyway. Anyway, one can only hope!

I noticed the FOV only has 633 rivets instead of 637 so I'll pass..... :P

Are you kidding me? If it's 1:18 and looks like a tank, I'm getting a couple! (just as soon a they show up around here  )

It just struck me as funny that many people are very critical of FOV Tiger's many flaws, but then go around and put 21st's Tiger I on a pedestal.

Both Tigers have many obvious flaws in terms of accuracy and details. They are just about equal.

21st Tiger had been the most inaccurate 1/18 tank in the market. But now, it would have to share it's place with FOV's Tiger.

They both have flaws but some things are quite different. And I am not counting rivets.

One has a figure. A good German tanker to me is worth something.
One has an interior.
One has engine detail and more opening hatches.
One has more removable parts.
One has better paint, and weathering.

Again, I am not saying I am not happy FoV is in the mix, but we always seem to treat the new guy with kid gloves. I like my fov figs, but still think my bbi figs are much nicer. I like the zimmermit, but still prefer the 21C offering for a few bucks more.

I know I collect toys. I would just rather they look closer to models, that's all.

Very true, but the 21st Tiger seemed to have been handled with kid gloves as well. Take BBI's Sherman for example. How many have bashed it for having the wrong engine in it?

But then people turn to 21st Tiger and lavish praises on it for being "detailed" because it has interior...a sadly inaccurate interior.

But back to 21st Tiger vs. FOV Tiger...someone criticized FOV for making the "mistake" of not putting zimmerit on the upper surface of the front hull.

But uh...what about 21st? They forgot to put zimmerit on the entire tank!
