Don't know about the Avenger crew but I did notice some monkey arms on some of the new D-Day guys.Rowsdower wrote:The Avenger crew has the same freakishly long arms as my F-86 pilot.![]()

arms
Did notice that on the Huff pilot. Fortunately that let's him keep the harness in place fairly easily.Rowsdower wrote:The Avenger crew has the same freakishly long arms as my F-86 pilot.![]()
On the bright side, if the gunner was killed the pilot could just reach back and operate the MG turret while still flying the plane.

Cheap screws on the Avenger? Funny I never noticed it or had a problem so far. At least the new Avengers have the screw caps and the mounted antenna on the wing. I heard the the first issue Avengers suffered in quality in many areas, some thing the new ones dont seem to have.Teamski wrote:The Plugged Avengers have cheap crews. They are completely inferior to the original issue. I noticed that straight off. They are night and day....MightyMustang wrote:Just got my Avenger today, finally! And I'll tell you that this big beauty is just plain awsome. I studied every inch of it and am blown away by the size and detail that 21st put into it. No wonder it took so long to produce and why there were so many delays. Unlike some of you my Avenger has the screw plugs and the the antenna that goes on the wing was already applied. I thought the most difficult thing would be folding the wings but it was no problem at all, in fact it went very smoothly. I installed the torpedo and folded the wings and now she sits with her crew members on top of what I call my 1/18th shelf. The only thing I didnt apply was the rockets because those will be installed on my Bunker Hill F4U.
Now the only thing I didnt like was the crew members. 21st has got to work on those for future releases.
But thats the only thing I didnt like but otherwise the Avenger now ranks right up there with my BBI F4U. That is until the BBI Hellcat arrives. That will surpass all my 1/18th fighters and Avenger no doubt.
Other then that excellent job 21st on the Avenger, you guys have torpedo'd the competition, if you get my meaning!

Either way I'm just happy as hell to have one of these beauty's.

Ahh, a cheap screw might be something that the younger folks don't understand.MightyMustang wrote:Cheap screws on the Avenger? Funny I never noticed it or had a problem so far. Another addition just added to my collection is Ridge Runner III. My dad bought it for me at Wally Mart today for $40 bucks! My local hobby shop wants $65 for it. Excellent deal. So thats another Mustang to add to my ever growing collection.

I do chunks but very little. The next planes on the agenda are a Japanese Zero and P-38.

Mine doesnt have it, and I only have 1 Torpedo shackle
I got my Avenger from BadCat, so it is the latest version with the screwplugs and antenna on the wing.

No radio mast... although buried deep in this thread (I believe) are instructions for crafting radio masts and antenna with a plastic fork and thread....
I am constructing a pitot tube for my early generation Avenger using a piece of sprue from an A-10 kit I am working on, but it sounds like yours is second generation. Kind of makes me wonder if the first generation planes could become collector's items, since there weren't near as many?

I will have to check the shackles issue when I get to work on Monday (it's hanging over my desk, with the Me-262 drawing a pursuit on it's 6 and my P-38 and Corsair on an intercept course--historically accurate, no, but cool as hell in a small office).
Mine didn't have the pitot, unless it was hidden deep within the box and I never found it. Now that you mention it, I will have to go upstairs and look this weekend

Now I am going to have to drag myself into the cold upstairs and look, if I can get this damn Husky out of my face. Note to board: anyone want an oversized Husky? Cute, lovable, and playful. And dumb as a box of rocks...

Sad to report - the pile of Avengers I saw Friday is still there today - not one of them has moved.. I smell clearance - and the last time we see a large aircraft at WM. Double edged sword.
What happened is when the first few showed up they went fast - but that was all the folks who would be willing to spend the money for them. Us. They reorder as they went so fast - and the next wave sits.
I see a lot of people looking at them though - especially older folk.
