Welcome to the exclusive Avenger club. For me, these guys were pretty hard to track down. I found one in LA and then 20 of them at a WM in Vegas. I am now the proud owner of 2! :D

I searched all the Walmarts in my area for the Avenger and found nothing. Thats the way its been for months it seem's then I finally called up Bad Cat and ordered one. It wasnt until I actually saw the one on display at my local hobby shop that I was truly impressed. Like I said the detail is simply amazing and I think it ranks right up there with my Marines Dream Corsair, which says alot due to the fact that I consider Marines Dream to be the jewel of my ever growing 1/18th fleet. I can tell 21st put alot of time and effort into the Avenger and now see why it took so long to come out. I have to say that next to the 21st DWK Spitfire the Avenger is the best plane to come out by 21st thus far.

I totally agree with you Mustang. But keep in mind that this plane is also the most expensive plane to date that 21st has offered so alot of the features would be expected on a plane of this caliber.

I have to admit: I am really impressed with my Avenger, and it is one of the first generation planes without screw plugs and all. It looks sweet hanging in my office at work--and any client that stops in is wowed just by the size and detail as it is. I kind of envy those of you that got the "new and improved version", but hey, it is sweet nonetheless.

This has come up before, and I must have missed it, but can anyone explain what makes the DWK Spitfire the best version? aren't they all repaints, or is ther something that makes DWK special? I wanted one because it is authentic to Battle of Britain, but are there other characteristics that make it 'best'?

It isn't different in its tooling than any of the other XD Spitfires, just that it is a plane that actually took part in the Battle of Britain whereas the other Spitfires replicate planes that came just before and after. Personally, the NKK Spitfire is my favorite

If they're anything like the Walmarts here, maybe in 2008.

I couldn't believe my eyes today! I hit the Milford WM and I caught glimpse of 22 Plugged Avengers on a pallet. I've never, ever seen so many of one plane at one shot like that!! Amazing. To see the most complex 1:18 plane built in those sort of numbers is numbing.....

I only know of 1 -- ONE-- Avenger sighting in the entire San Francisco Bay Area. So to hear these sightings of 20+ etc. at one store is extremely frustrating. In my AO there have also been zip Migs or F-86s.

However, I'm happy for those who can get to those W-Ms!

I'm very reluctant to say this, 'cause it presents the opening to be flamed (NOT FROM YOU). However the area you're in is not military friendly and lives it's own life, perhaps Wally World knows this and adjusts accordingly, yee did I actually just defend WW.
Just a guess and not intended for anything beyond this reply.

I put my F-86 together last night and it is huge! I think I may need to rent a storage unit to house my Avenger.

Yeah, as I look around my living room, and then think about what all is at work, I am thinking what a friend suggested is sounding really good: build a medium-sized quonset hut and turn it into a museum of sorts. I would be so screwed if I didn't have the luxury of filling my office at work too!
But just think: a quonset hut, finished off inside with dioramas, lots of hanging space for dogfights and formations... and maybe a small "workshop" in the corner... Decorate the outside a la Baa Baa Black Sheep or something...

Just got my Avenger today, finally! And I'll tell you that this big beauty is just plain awsome. I studied every inch of it and am blown away by the size and detail that 21st put into it. No wonder it took so long to produce and why there were so many delays. Unlike some of you my Avenger has the screw plugs and the the antenna that goes on the wing was already applied. I thought the most difficult thing would be folding the wings but it was no problem at all, in fact it went very smoothly. I installed the torpedo and folded the wings and now she sits with her crew members on top of what I call my 1/18th shelf. The only thing I didnt apply was the rockets because those will be installed on my Bunker Hill F4U.

Now the only thing I didnt like was the crew members. 21st has got to work on those for future releases.

But thats the only thing I didnt like but otherwise the Avenger now ranks right up there with my BBI F4U. That is until the BBI Hellcat arrives. That will surpass all my 1/18th fighters and Avenger no doubt.

Other then that excellent job 21st on the Avenger, you guys have torpedo'd the competition, if you get my meaning!

That would be sweet! Definitely give it the whole black Sheep Squadron look. 8) Those things last forever, if I had the room I'd build one myself.

The Plugged Avengers have cheap crews. They are completely inferior to the original issue. I noticed that straight off. They are night and day....

The Avenger crew has the same freakishly long arms as my F-86 pilot.
On the bright side, if the gunner was killed the pilot could just reach back and operate the MG turret while still flying the plane.
