Hey Guys,

It has come to my attention that I may have sent out the same side of the cockpit cage. With the 229 kits.

YT was the first victim. Hopefully the last . Get the 2 parts and face them the same way. The right and left fronts should bend together and touch. If they face the same way you have a single side only.

I am not sure how this happened but when I pulled the parts out of the bag they are missed marked ( some of them ) :x :x :x

If you guys can check out your roll cage and let me know ASAP if you need the opposite side.

Sorry about that YT. Your part went out today.

Thanks for the support and patience.

Matthew

Hey Jon S,

Thanks for the interest but I am trying to get the full builds out now and fill the back log of orders that are piling up.

It will be at least 3-4 weeks before I will even consider taking on another Horten kit.

I need to make 3 more kits now between trying to get out the full builds.

As far as the full builds are gpoing I have the second coat of primer on them. The wings and main body.

One more tweaking pass and they could be ready for paint.

I still need to prime the misc parts. Scott did a good job on the prep and hopefully the part scan be mounted after paint.

This is the paint scheme I am using. The same color as the S1 Stuka .

With the same decals as well. Black crosses will be on the bottom of the wings. Same as the crosses on top of the wings but in black.

A couple of other things for you full build guys.

I am not sure how I am going to do the flap and ailerons. Glued , static or getting those hinges that I posted on the instruction post.

These full builds are a LOT more work than I ever imagined.

I will have close to $80 worth of primer alone. And probably 2 to 3 times more than that for the paint.

That meens that I have about $680 left for the 3-4 weeks it is taking to do the full builds.

One thing about Skyjerks .

He charged $750 for his full builds .

In hind sight and the time it taking me to build these.

His prices were not off line.

If I continue to do the full builds that will be the price I am going to charge.

AFTER THESE 10 GET OUT OF COURSE.

If that shuts down future Ho-229 full builds so be it. Let it be retired.

Hey Matthew. I've been thinking about it and I could probably make do with the two sides I have. I can just modify one cage so it faces the other way.

Matt,

As a full build customer I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all that you have done to make this a reality. It sounds outrageously difficult and time consuming.

I love the paint scheme and detailing. I await the moment when I can tackle the delivery man and get this thing inside the house! It sounds like we are getting there!

Sorry I think I know where some of those came from.... 8)

I can attest to what a labor of love building one of these is! It is a lot of work! Most due to the sheer size alone.

All right guys I need a show of hands of the guys WHO ARE GOING TO USE THE WING ROOT CAP AND FRAMING.

THIS IS AIMED AT YOU GUYS WHO ARE GETTING THE FULL BUILDS .

I will include them with the model BUT THEY WILL NOT BE PAINTED UNLESS TOLD TO DO SO.

So unless told to do so.

There is close to 100 parts or so in the kit each piece needs to be worked on 3-4 times each . That is thousands of time these pieces will be handled.

So if I can cut down on some of the parts , I will.

Again a show of hands is needed. If you do not speak up or pm me they will be put into the box untouched.

One more thing.

Originally I was going to try and make this thing Plane Jane in order to keep the cost down. That did not work out so well.

Other than the wing fit there is a gray area in the build. That is the wheel covers. ( the Main gear ).

They need to be glued in the closed position or glued on the strut.

Or maybe you can use that poster putty type clay to " stick " them on.

So if you definitely have a choice on the gear position or have me leave them unmounted

LET ME KNOW .

Pickelhaube,

First, thanks for all the hard work on these - it is much appreciated :D

As for your questions above, do not worry about painting the wing root cap for me.

I would like the landing gear seperate (but painted, of course).

Many thanks!

Hi Matthew:

No worries about painting the wing root cap. I plan on displaying with wings on.
I would like the landing gear "not glued/unmounted" (but painted, of course).

I feel compelled to send some more funds. I believe you undercharged for this project Matt.

Best,
John

BUT I do want the gear mounted on the strut in the down position.

Thanks!

As far as the gear goes . I will paint all of them.

The only question is the actual wheel cover.

It needs to be mounted on the body in the closed position or mounted on the leg.

Or I can just leave it off and you guys do with it what you will.

If you could just leave it off on mine, that would be great.
