The "shut downs" due to the olympics are blown way out of proportion... That really wouldn't impact things as much as people are saying, unless the factory was coincidentally told to shut down the day they were to start production. Big Lots maybe felt last year's items were disappointing sellers? I for one wouldn't agree as they were gone from stores here quickly, but it's possible.

The worry is OVER!!
I hit a Big Lots in Elyria today and the boys are BACK!!!!!!
The BL employees were placing the boxes in the toy aisle and I asked if they could open the boxes for me-they DID and said go at it!!
They have the 1:18 scale Howitzers, helicopters, desert buggies, camels, horses, and the 3 pack soldiers. All prices look to be the same as last year except the 3 pack soldiers are now $5. last year they were $4.50. Nothing new, but it's GOOD to see them BACK!!
They also had the 12" guys too! They had more boxes in the backroom, but didn't know if they were PTE or not.
Anyways, THEY ARE BACK!!!!!
AND if you guys buy PTE just for the equipment, I'd trade XD for the PTE soldiers-SO DON'T THROW THE SOLDIERS OUT!!

***cartwheels off to Big Lots!***
Seriously, I'll hit a store up tomorrow before football practice and see what we've got here holensock... As always, I'll save the figures for you. I'm probably not going to go nutty like last year, but I do want more bunk sets, watch towers, and maybe some other stuff. I'll keep you updated.

So far, nothing here holensock... I'll keep you updated though.
I'm hoping to get more Bunk sets, some tent and bivouac sets, watch towers, perhaps another bridge, some Abrams tanks for the hedgehogs mostly, and some figure packs with the hedgehogs in them. Those are my main goals... I may nab some horse sets too as I'd like to do some German mounted guys. Not a huge list but enough to keep me busy.
Our BL had space cleared on one aisle but nothing out. They had a very limited Halloween display up too which surprised me as last year Halloween stuff was everywhere in the middle of the store. I figured the same would be true this year.

I was surprised, Jesse to find what I did as I was in another Big Lots in Middleburg Heights just the day before and they had NOTHING! With no signs of shelf movements anywhere.
It was luck as the Elyria Big Lots just started to put this stuff out. Nothing was unpacked, but they opened all the boxes for me. I sure hope there will be more to come!
I'm gonna hit another BL today.
Save those figures for me!!

I haven't had a chance to get to a Big Lots yet and it may be another week or two before I do. I'm wondering if those that have and are familiar with PTE's previous offerings have seen any new items either 1/18 or 1/6. In the past they've apparently put out some new items each year and I'm hoping they've done the same this year.

I suppose limited old stock is better than no stock at all.
Has anyone sighted any restocks of PTE at KBToys or Dollar General? KB usually carried most of the same 1/18 stuff as Big Lots but at a slightly higher price. Dollar General used to have some individual 1/18 carded figures for $1. In the past they've also had some of the same 1/6 sets as BL and they also had some stripped down 1/6 figures that came with BDU pants and a t-shirt with a weapon or two for only $5. They just started building a new Dollar General about a mile from my house but it won't be open any time soon.

Saw some watch towers, but that's all so far, and all up high on a shelf... Not sure what's up. I'll keep checking. I'd like the towers I saw if they're there when I get paid. Love that set.

Jesse from what I've seen in the local Big Lots the high shelf stock is usually old leftover stock. All the leftover PTE stock that I've seen in a number of different stores lately was up high and it was usually multiples of the same things like the 1/6 play sets with the kayak or the motorcycle or the 1/18 tanks. I have got to get into the local stores soon and see if they've restocked! I don't do modern 1/18 stuff but I'm real interested in the 1/6 stuff.

Maybe not good news for this year, but over at the Power Team Groups site, someone got an email from Hong Fung, Project Coordinator at PT, that new items for 2009 are under development, but are confidential and no info until the 'Buyers' get it later this year.
Which probably means we won't hear anything until next year, but it's a good sign that PTE is NOT DEAD!!!
Again, anyone here who is buying the PTE 1:18 stuff but you don't like the figures, DON'T TOSS 'EM!! I may want to buy/trade for 'em!!

Thanks for the info holensock (both here and the PM you sent). I would really like to see them branch out a bit more in what they release. Something tells me they won't be doing WW2 anytime soon but if they're going to stick with modern figures I'd really like to see them do some more diverse subjects in both 1/18 and 1/6 scale. More european military figures would be great but I'd really like to see them do some obscure stuff like maybe Rhodesian Selous Scouts from the 70's or maybe some Arab/Israeli war figures. I really think this company has the potential to take over where 21C left off when it comes to 1/6 figures. I was looking at a site (http://www.pistolpetechecklist.com/unreleased.html) that has a list of stuff that 21C had in the works that never got released and they had some truly awesome figures planned. I would have really loved to see the modern Russian figures they announced.

Found some Howitzers and Towers tonight at another Big Lots... This much stuff doesn't get "lost" in the back room. It's a good bit actually, so I'm thinking either they cut back what they ordered, or there's a delay possibly, but I'm still holding out hope of a PTE Deluge at some point.
It's more likely than a 21st Century Toys deluge I guess.
