Ok, thanks for the detailed info. However why are these companies doing the same aircraft?

Would it not seem logical to create a variety of different aircraft that would generate sales for ALL the manufactuers?

Now we have Admiral with F-86 and plans for a Zero ( on box of F-86 marked as Coming Soon) and Me 262.

BBi has Corsairs and Zeros, and P-51D's plus the Jets

21C has Corsairs, P-51Ds, notice of F-86, Mig 15, Zero and Me 262 plus numerous variants of 190's, 109's, P-40B's Spitfires, P-47's, and P-38's, and F104's

Seems to me with the same aircraft available, manufactuers are limiting sales potentials. I mean are there only a few mold makers and everybody buys from one company or is this purely market research on favorite planes. Would the F104 be on anybody's list?

Seems to me once a company ( say Adirmal) found out about a ME 262 from 21C (spies everywhere believe it) management should have said
OK, next plane on our list...

Or am I missing something?

I'll buy everything, but I desire vareity! 5 of the same plane is BORING. Not to mention the huge space demands.

I received a call from Roy today. For those who don't know or perhaps live on another planet. Roy is the head of the Product development team / master modeler for 21st Century Toys.

Anyway he had explained to me that the Me-262's tooling patters were produced quite a while ago (the tooling patterns are the prototyping stage).

Today the 21st Me-262 is already deep into the "steel pattern" process. (this is explained as the stage where the aircraft is built, tested and preped for final production). To be to this stage of the game means you have been under development for the better part of a year and thousands of dollars have been invested. The Me-262 was always part of 21st Century Toys product line up with planning that took place as far back as 2004.

In short the 21st Me-262 is well in it's production process and will be ready for release fairly soon.

Different BOB2 figure...?

Post by lablksmith » Sat Mar 18, 2006 3:04 pm

This may be old news but found a mess of BOB2s @ WM today. Found one U.S. figure not shown on the 21st site. The name is CPL, S.P. Sam Phares. He has the long winter coat, much longer than the vehicle driver figure. :?:

This guy does have a great coat - this is the only "new" thing about these guys and what has me interested. He is on the website but just in an earlier set of pics I believe. Are there not 2 guys with long coats? I hope so...lord knows we have enough mackinaws

Smith - you can sign up for photobucket - it takes 10 seconds and allows you to post the pics within the text here. I recently signed up and can't get enough. :P

Well, I found a second WC-51 at another WM, so I'm set. They must of packed 1 WC51 and 1 Humvee per case or something since I only found 1 of each at each store.

I successfully broke off 3 of the 6 posts holding on the frame to the bed trying to get the thing untied.....Wonderful. The rubberbands really strss the posts......

I took the legs off of my BoB driver and he fit in the driver's seat ok.

Great coats

Post by lablksmith » Sun Mar 19, 2006 5:36 am

There are two guys with great coats one open one closed. The US tanker has the open coat and extra head with cap. What I like about him is its 101 Airborne with same patch on great coat so you can use extra arms on other figs to make more airborne guys. Same with other US figures. There is a new M1 with strap on the bottom which looks pretty good. The German figures with great coats have arm bands with extra arms to use on previous figs to make more SS. I really like the German tankers. Helmets on US figures are better as they are bigger and look more realistic to me. The German helmets have insinia with eagle dont see Swastka. The insignia on the caps of the tankers look pretty close to Deaths Head insignia though.

well i got lucky and bought a whole case of them as wal mart today.

since the extra heads and arms and such are basically a free bonus i guess i cant complain, but i am kind of dissapointed to see that they are not at all new head sculpts, i was hoping there would be some different heads.
i guess im too picky i wont waste my limited space on 2 people with the same head so the extra heads are really not of alot of use to me,but i am a packrat.
yeah the only new thing i notice is the one coat and the new german arms with bands.

Why do people have a problem with the wire ties? A small pair of wire cutters work great! Snip snip snip and there off.

Found $20 P-51 Ridge Runners

Post by Jagdplastic » Sun Mar 19, 2006 5:57 pm

I'm not really into planes very much, but the Siler City, NC Walmart had four Ridge Runners for $20 each. They've moved the toy section around with the main section being now at the back and the clearance section being in the garden portion. They had several RC Panzer IVs on the top shelf in garden marked as clearance but still had the $49.97 price tag. I don't know what game they're playing...

probably human error - I picked up many deals on weird WM prices.
Usually the first few days something is on the shelf before the mistake is discovered.

Someone else suggested in a different thread that WM may be running some sort price testing. Who knows - buy em up!

The Ridge Runners in the garden section were 1/18th for $20 each. There were 4 of them and, as I'm not much into planes, I left them all.

Wow! Those planes have yet to cross the country and they are already showing up at 50% off in their region of origin! (Something about moving XD west seems to take forever, while it takes only a few weeks for it to go in the opposite direction). I'm not worried about this release, however, as I have an example of "The Flying Undertaker" (a scheme I liked better than "Ridgerunner" coming eventually from a small retailer on this board :)

Siler City, NC is about 45 minutes west from Cary, NC where I live and then 45 minutes back. I work in the opposite direction and only visit Siler City on my way to Winston-Salem or High Point, about every six to eight weeks. Unfortunately, I'll probably not be in that area for quite some time yet.
