Ok thanks. I think I'm going to have to pick up Marines Dream too after Christmas. I've always liked the red bordered 1943 insignia.

Has anyone painted over the MARINES markings on the wing and fuselage of the checkerboard Corsair? I just had an idea go through my head about airbrushing over them. Basically if anyone can recommend the best color match and or brand of of acrylic paint to use I'd be grateful.

Rowsdower,

I would try flat dark sea blue thats made by Tamiya. I have used that color on Marines Dream when I had to do some touch ups on it and it matched perfectly. The reason I havent bought the BBI Checker Board Corsair is because I hate those markings and besides that I have Marines Dream and the 21st Century Bunker Hill F4U. I have no need for anymore Corsairs.

But try Tamiya dark sea blue. It should work.

Thanks for the tip! My airbrush is dead so I will have to wait a bit to try it out. I would have preferred the Bunker Hill or Marines Dream F4U but when I saw a Corsair sitting right in front of me at TRU, for $40 I couldn't help myself. 8) I really do like the checkerboard nose though. :D

someone probably returned the Kiowa....good find

I braved into a TRU last night and it was bare - I mean folks were sucking in whatever they could find - Someone even had a cart load of Narnia figures.
Any way - I wal over the the BBI stuff and the Old Crow and Corsair just sat - the same number I saw a few weeks before. Plus the WWII paratroops and modrn soldiers are just sitting. Now the cheap and $19.99 blackhawks were all gone - I cant rememeber the name of that line.

21st century is probably smart to stay away from TRU - the target customer is the smaller child. Better chance to sell at WM or Target.

I visited the TRU at Times Square in NYC and saw a pile of Marine "22" Corsairs and pegloads of bbi figures. I picked up a pair of WWII paras and WWII Rangers. Man, I really wish my TRU had any of this stuff. It's got none of it..... :?

TRU carries bbi figures and planes? Just kidding, but I have to admit, the selection at my local TRU DOES make me wonder sometimes.

The TRU In Morrow GA had about six old crows and corsiars - but now after christmas they have about 15 - sitting at full price - I smell a clearance down the road.

I noticed that Badcat offers an Old Crow decal for the right side of the Mustang. Has anyone used these? And are they any good?

BBI would be smart and re-release their blackhawks. They all sold very fast here - never to see them again -

New Corsair

Post by rmoore456 » Wed Jan 17, 2007 3:03 pm

New 1/18th Corsair at TRU. All dark blue, #82 with cheescake on the cowl "Daisy June". Large white square with what appears an "I" over "M". Found this profile.

Good to hear the new repaints are arriving...hopefully some new stuff won't be far behind.
You can see this bird in the "bbi watch this space thread" along with the new Mustang. This imo is the best Corsair scheme yet from bbi.

Must check the local "Toys R Us" today after work.

Mike from bbi also reported some time ago that we should see a repaint of the P-51 Mustang as well.

Went by 3 TRUs today. Found Old Crow Mustangs and Checkerboard Corsairs at two of them. The third had no Elite force planes at all. The new repaints haven't hit here yet.

I went to my A.O. TRU on Sat. and found nothing. Sad to say that it looks like BBI is getting pushed right out of the very small military toy section. FOV, the crappy new Sigma and PTE have all the space and BBI has one peg. A very sad day. TRU better restock with the repaints, the HellCat and any new figures that come out or they'll be on my Sh#t list along with my local W.M.'s. :x

Ours is the same way. Two pegs of BBI figs and nothing else. Dont even see placeholders for anything military except the PTE stuff.

I went to Orlando, FL this weekend. 2 Toys "R" Us stores had the new series 3 MH-6 little bird with the external seating positions. It only comes with one figure, the pilot.

bbi item # 21693 "Night Stalker"

Each of the two stores had 4 each.
