Say mold, say mold...

If any LIers haven't gotten the kneeling DAK, Holtsville TRU has over 10...otherwise, local TRUs have nuttin' new...just a ludicrous number of the 1/32 FW 190s, PAKS on tracks, and no 1/18 A/C...

The Flying Tiger P-40's have landed in central Illinois. Springfield, Peoria and Bloomington have them.

B24 Guy is right. He lives in Cajun contry. There are a few Cajun eating places around but they are tourist places. They do have top notch cusine though. The coffee and beignets NO PROBLEM. I try to eat them at least once a week. We can go down to the French Quarter and get some (while taking our lives in our hands) or go to Metaire there are 2 places. Come on down :D :D :D

I was able to snag 2 of the German motorcycle at TRU a couple days ago.
I really think these bikes look good! Of course I would like to get a more realistic front tire on it. But hey, until one of you guys come up with a easy fix for it, I will keep it as is.

I got to see the Raiders playset and Indy on the Horse.

(Word to the wise- Hasbro.com is showing out of stock on some of these items now - Gen. Blasto - are you buying up ALL the Indy Jones items? )

Picklehaube and B24guy - thanks for the quick cuisine lesson for your area... :D Sounds like you both really got it good down there!

Maybe you guys would like to swap some of your food for some good Cincinnati food? Skyline 3 ways? or Greater's Ice Cream or Montgomery Ribs?

Found the Bruno Bauer and DAK Artillery spotter figures at the Fresno TRU. I picked up 3 of the Bauer figures (for the prone headsculpt, of course) but left the artillery spotter. I can make that figure easily enough with an extra DAK figure and spare parts.

The TRU on Shelbyville, here in Louisville, Ky only has the NAM figures. No Platoon or sunburned WWII, and still no sign of the dual packs, new DAK, or Bruno.

seems that the xd items that TRU has stocked have been selling well. Strange that they're not carrying the newer items like the 262's and it doesn't look like the Panther, KT or 88 either.

Very odd.

Yeah, I was kind of wondering the same thing. What's the point of TRU carrying XD items if they aren't going to be the place to get the newest releases for vehicles. Old repaints are only going to sell for so long before they stagnate on the shelves.

Quite true. That would explain why the eight or so F-104s in the "George Laven" paintscheme have not moved for months. The same plane was avaliable at Wal Mart a year ago in 2007, then were heavily discounted early in 2008. The potential collectors in my area all got their fill... The P-51s, Corsairs, Migs, and Bf-109s that my local TRUs got sold far better for whatever reason.

As stated above, new items are a must if sales are to be maintained

LOL! We're actually leaving Fort Monroe today and should be in Alabama tomorrow. After 24 years in the Army, we decided to retire this summer. My official date is 1 SEP 08 but I start my transition leave today! :D

We love the Virginia Beach area but I'm a missile guy and Huntsville, AL is the "Rocket City" and we had very good job offers so we took one of them and will start at the end of summer. We will miss this Hampton Roads area though (and the many Targets!) :(

Sorry to see you leave the area! Congrats on your Army tenure! Your going to need the transition time, it's a big life style change!
My dad was a Missle Man in the Army way back mostly "Nike-Ajax" antiaircraft missiles and later went armor.

21st & Toys R Us

Post by bpxbrian » Sat Jun 28, 2008 6:41 am

Here's an email I recently sent to 21st Century along with the response:

-----Original Message-----
From: Private
Sent: Monday, June 23, 2008 6:11 PM
To: [email protected]
Subject: New Stuka 1:18

Will the new Stuka be sent to Toys R Us? The shelves are empty of
1:18 here and sell fast and then are blank for weeks/months. I thought the
Rudel Stuka was to be in stores in June?

Thanks,

Brian

Thanks for your interest in 21st Century Toys.

MY SECOND FOLLOW-UP EMAIL:

From: Private
Sent: Tuesday, June 24, 2008 6:58 PM
To: Sammy Findlay (21st Century Toys, Inc.)
Subject: Re: New Stuka 1:18

Thanks for the heads up. I'll order one online then. Will Toys R Us or
Walmart be carring 1:18 planes anymore? It seems like the last batch I
saw were the 1:18 Flying Tigers and now the shelves are empty... I'm
in San Diego by the way.

Thanks

---

They are still being sold at Toys R Us.

---

So, it looks like 21st is still working with TRU, but not on the new Rudel (or any of the new German planes for that matter). The Flying Tigers that were here are pretty much gone. I went to 3 TRU's in the region - all had empty space where 1:18 planes should be. 2 months ago they were stocked. Clearly, folks are buying these planes. Where are the new ones? Talk about shooting your company in the proverbial foot. The decision makers at 21st should capitalize on the collectors who are waiting for the shelves to fill up with new items we haven't seen. Credit to Mr. Findlay at 21st for at least responding to me (a customer).
