Alright guys, please stop with the A-10!A-10! posts. There's been a few complaints about it now. Just stick to the history if you'd like, but no more spamming.

It is made out of foam and it is very very close (only off by an inch or so in either direction) to 1/18 scale. If we ever do get to see an A-10 in 1/18 scale, the GWS A-10 Foam flyer is a good measuring tool for how big it will be.

In December 1981, integration of the AIM-9 Sidewinder began, giving the A-10 a limited defensive capability. A common sight seen among A-10's in combat today.

Were the aim-7's used in its helicopter kills or were they done with the cannon?

The helicopter kill made by the A-10 (77-0205) famously named "Chopper Popper" was made with its cannon after its AIM-9 wouldn't track. The pilot, Capt. Bob Swain, switched to the trusty 30mm and made the kill. This particular A-10 (as far as I know) now sits as a monument at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.

Here's a link to the story of Capt. Bob Swain and "Chopper Popper":

http://www.warthogpen.com/walloffame.html

The second helicopter kill by an A-10 was a Mi-8 downed by aircraft 81-0964. Flown by Capt. Sheehy, this kill was also made with the A-10's 30mm cannon.

Here's a very good link to Capt. Sheehy's story:

Very da@$ good shooting!!!

What better way to commerate one of these particular aircraft than for BBI, 21st, or Admiral to produce a 1/18 A-10 with their paint schemes. Even just producing a 1/18 A-10 would do period!!!

Here's a pretty cool "caricature" of the A-10. When I look at it, it makes me think of the A-10 bbi did for their Target Combat Command line.
