They're really nice. I unpacked mine yesterday, along with the duplicates I got for my son for Christmas. And a couple of weeks ago I picked up some Schleich Arabians for the Romans to fight (the bbi Celt is good, but he's just one guy and the Romans need more than that to go up against!).

yeah we need some enemies now....i hope bbi does some barbarians. Papo has some decent vikings and celts....with some mods they would probably work for fighting the romans.

I hope we get some mongols too someday. Not for fighting the romans, just cos they're neat. :)

I saw a show about ghengis khan (?) and it said he had so many children (something like thirty thousand) that approx 2 per cent of all the people on the planet can trace their ancestory back to him.

Does anyone have experience with the Papo brand Barbarians or Romans? I came across some of these online today. They look pretty good, but I'm wondering if they're too small for the bbi Romans.

i have a few of the papo romans. I don't have the bbi romans but i do have bbi knights and the papo romans are fine size-wise compared to the bbi knights, so i don't see any problems for size with the bbi romans.

the shields are not as detailed on papo romans as compared to the bbi romans so they may stand out that way.

the papo vikings i've seen and i got the impression they were noticably smaller than the papo romans....so much so i passed on them at the time. I may take another look at them one day but for now i am of the opinion they are too small. The gaul's are of the same series so i suspect they are a bit small as well.

Papo's figure sizes seem to vary a fair bit. Some figures are almost 4 inch while others barely 3 1/2 and it makes quite a difference when you put them side by side.

I have their napoleonic french grenadier and it's almost 4 inches tall but very lean......still i used them and think they look fine. Most of the knights papo makes are fine in size too but for the most part not as detailed as the bbi knights. They make some good muskateers, if you're into that. They make a number of american indian figures, all i've seen are too small. They also make a couple of US cavalry figures. I got the one shooting a rifle. He's a bit on the small side but i plan to mount him on a horse and that will disguise it. With some detail painting it should be quite a nice figure.

Papo makes some other interesting figures too. A very nice equestrian show jumping figure i ordered recently. Brand new. They also make some historic personalities and a variety of other figures, some good, some poor and most in between. They have a varied and imaginative line, however and also make some stunning animal figures; the panther, cheetah, lions, tigers and gorilla are fantastic.
