Another one on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/2000-WWII-Messersch ... 5885d90e4a

Is this a PWP replica or actual prototype?

Anyone excited about the PWP Super Sabre?

I saw that last night. To me its been hand painted/not real. I asked the guy if it was a custom, but have not heard back yet.

I noticed tape lines in the paint, missing screw covers, mis match painted screw covers, what appeared to be brush marks on the markings and numbers, plus more. Maybe I am being too critical, but for $950.00 I would have to be. Just my $.02

Indeed. The numbering seems to have been at least partly painted on freehand. And the missing and mismatched screw caps... Somehow I'm more inclined to believe this is the genuine 21st article. At least it would be consistent with their infamous track record. That QC thing sure wasn't the company's strong suit, was it?

They could have used TKO211's painting skills at 21st's prototyping department. You'd think the head honchos there would be salivating at his technique.

not a PWP. They only did 2 and I still have them.

sharp eyes guys :D

wow if this is genuine 21st, there's like only 3 of these ever exists? This is the 2nd one to see the light of day in the space of 4 months.

I think this is bogus. That 23 looks really bad and the tape line is really noticeable. I know the QC was bad at times but come on.

I asked the seller if this was a custom and their answer......

"HI: I think so."

Wouldn't that be helpful to put in the listing...maybe not for the seller.....

For SURE a custom.

Rare Bird on ebay is the Real Deal.

No way is this one of those fake paint masters from those guys. What's their name? 21st Century Toys, Inc should sent those character a C&D just for this reason alone.

I was told the person selling this rare beauty received it as a gift by the owner of 21C way back in the day as a token of appreciation for their work on a special project. They we told at the time that someday this airplane may be worth some money.

So all of you Thomas's out there, take It from me it's the real deal.

It'll be interesting to see if johnlumley has any input on this

Wonder if the box and the gray base is unique to this model?

Well my name is not Thomas, so I say bogus. The detail on this 109 is sloppy at best. I find it hard to believe this is an official 21st prototype.
It is also not a scheme I find interest in and if I did, I would custom paint another 109 to match and save $900. jmo

Do you want to be the first to bid on it then, since it's no-doubt legit?

If this were the case then why would the seller respond to indicating this was a custom? Where are the screw covers? Why would the right wing gun barrel be bent when the plane is in the box and then the barrel becomes smaller, silver and straight when the plane is out of the box? Its been removed for the twist ties went into the opening in the bottom of the plane and did not go over the top/canopy. The screw to hold the wing on is installed on the underside of the fuselage and not taped to the underside of the tray.

I find it very hard to beleive that this is real......

You guys missed the X on the rudder that is hand painted as well.

Also it is a custom painted figure. The iron cross around the neck is a little rough.

So my virdict .

100 % bogus.

I feel badly for that bidder ...nearly $1,000.00 for something that has a very strong chance of being a custom.

VMF214 is correct. :D

Looks absolutely legit to me as well.

All three have now been accounted for.

I noticed the listing has been pulled from e-bay. No longer can be viewed.

Correction: I found the e-bay listing. I was clicking on the wrong hyperlink.
