Agreed that licensing is the way to go - but this movie has stinker all over it. Jurassic Park 3 meets journey to the center of the earth. Kids will not like this movie. Fans of the book will go see it though, and cult followers will buy anything from coffee mugs to figures, ask the Star Wars guys. So, they may be onto something there. But it is somewhat annoying that we're waiting for good stuff while they're repainting, distributing, and marketing garbage. Wasted efforts imo.

We were getting nothing then out of no where all this great stuff! The Pnzer IV is a must buy, a lot of posibilities with that. And with the Sahara stuff I was thinking it was an M-3 from the Humphrey Bogart movie, but it is still very cool none the less. Now all we need are some Brits so I can make Desert Rats.

Hey, that Star Wars remark is uncalled for. I don't collect everything that is Star Wars. I have two reason, one is not all the stuff that has Star Wars on it is cool and two I don't have that kind of cash flow. I like the paint of the Sahara line, but as for the movie I don't know because I have never seen it. One think is the figures could be used as bad guys.

The conundrum (yes i said condundrum) for me is, when the Mk IV comes out is whether or not to buy 10 of them and custom them into Stugs, Hummels, Wirblewinds etc or (try) and be patient and hope 21c comes out with those variants..

I did NOT mean to offend. "Uncalled for" is a little too serious of a reply. It was not a cheap shot - my point was, I know people who collect Star Trek, Harry Potter, Simpsons - and they ALL collect more than just one type of merchandise (ie toys). They are not toy collectors, but collectors of the relevant merchandise in general. In turn, someone who had no intention of buying any 21C may buy the Sahara stuff because they love the book (which is VERY popular). Conversely, people who have every intention of buying XD (me), may have no interest in the Sahara stuff. See my point?

Aferguson, I think you should buy 10 and start your own customs... you see how fast 21st came out with a Jagdpanther  and its 1/32nd  Well I hope Im wrong and they do make different variants on the Panzer IV chassis. When and IF this Panzer IV H comes out I plan on picking up a few to start with. many cool customs to be made. OK how about a release date..........?? :(

Mr. Moderator,

I'm with you 100%! I was also thinking about getting a few of the Panzer IVs and re-painting them in various "flavors" or in reconfiguring some of them. I think I'll just go for the repainting. It would certainly help diversify my collection of German armor.

To say the least, I appreciate your conundrum!

Mike

Digger,
It was ment to be lol. I know what you were trying to say. Most people look at us "Star Wars fans", and think we are nuts in some way and have to get everything Star Wars. I think others that don't collect Star Wars or other toys are nuts, lol. If I can't have the real thing, the toys have to do.

centone,
I wonder why they have seven US figure to the 6 unknown (most likely the Japanese), or for that matter why they have been out numbering the bad guys in general. In the BOB wave they only had three Germans to four US troops. And then drop in the Patton figures which makes the US total to seven. The first two waves were even, why not the new waves? But at least we have pictures of something and might see them in 2005, I hope. IMO the German figures sold better than the US figures in the first two waves, so why make less of them? It's just odd, knowing the German Paras were harder for me to get more of when I needed. The 1st series German Infantry and Machine Gunner were almost impossible to find towards the end when all I could find were US troops, mostly BAR gunners on the pegs. I just wonder what 21st C is thinking most of the time.

Panzer IV

Post by wise690 » Sat Oct 23, 2004 11:21 pm

I want that Panzer IV! I'll buy multiples. Its my favorite German tank. I hope that their not just teasing us like they do with the 6x6.

13th man

I was thinking perhaps the 13th guy will be a send-away, or collectable in some way. Maybe the General will be a fan club or other exclusive. Just a thought.

When somebody gets their new Sherman plaease confirm this is the paint scheme. They show both the Panther & Tiger in the 21c box, and this Sherman as well. They were wrong about the Tiger's paint so they could be wrong about "OD." Any word is appreciated - I'm good for a few brown ones but probably no green ones...

You mean the COED with the Marines laying around?
In the box is a brown one, and a brown one is also alone on a stand.

that one looks brownish but i just figured it was the lighting.... It's not the North Africa version i was referring to.

I was referring to COED. It's a north africa sherman, if i'm not mistaken.

You don't have one of the COEDs? I was surprised that's the one you were referring to.

Aferguson:
I have a "Coed" Sherman too-I've had it for about two years-I think it's 'sposed to be in Pacific Theatre camo. I think I got it from a 21C small dealer, but I honestly can't remember which one.

The COED was a fanclub exclusive. I also believe small retailers were able to buy it.

Yeah, COED was sold by on-line retailers. It went for cheap on E-Bay for quite a while until the OD Shermans started to disappear. I never really liked it myself........
