Glad to help out the board there flpickupman.

Let me know if you spot any of the new planes from 21st regardless of scale. I will do the same for you. There are 9 Wal-Marts in Palm Beach County and I visit all but the northen most two on a regular basis. I dip into Broward county because the super center on 441 & Sample Road seems to always have the new stuff first. I have scored there many times when I could not find it elsewhere.

Will do. The Coral Springs Walmart you mentioned has the 1/48th planes.

Apart from the occasional Avenger, "Flying Undertaker" P-51 or "Smoke II" F-104, has anything new and interesting been sighted in California? I thinking along the lines of the M-48s and Migs, or anything else.

Of all the walmarts from martin county to indian river, south brevard, I've seen only a handfull of the avengers, no migs or f-86's, the same 1/18 vehicles humvees, halftracks, tactical jeeps. Occasionally a M-48.

My ex-fav one in vero beach must have a new person running the dept as it's sucks now.

NEW LOCATION FOR 1/18TH XD

Post by mikeg » Sat Sep 23, 2006 6:00 pm

My son and I stopped by Hodge army/navy store near lockheed today.

You know, the type of place you haven't been to since you were a kid;
early 70's for me. Well, times have changed- where the Enfield spike bayonets and the helmets, liners, the inert grenades and 20mm rounds etc were; are now just mainly camouflage (bright pretty colors) for kids, hunting stands, rolls of foam, and other pseudomilitaria. Not to bad mouth the store, they still have the overall atmosphere with decor and such, but times have definately changed.

ANYWAY, I walked around the corner and saw the XD-it was like a walmart selection a few years ago- 3 green 21st sherman, 3-4 eastern front tigers, humvees and jeeps- both bbi and 21st, 3 NKK spits, the green FW d-9s with the yellow tail fin, a couple of Pudgy P-38s and a bunch of 1/6th figures- I don't have a whole lot of interest in those.

As I was walking out, I saw the fishbowl style container with the dummy
pineapple grenades in it, almost just like old times..

WM flexing muscles

Post by digger » Thu Sep 28, 2006 8:37 am

I don't know if this is good or bad (or true) but I see one small retailer is reporting that WM "has purchased 100% of the manufacturing capacity" of 21C for the near future. Hopefully this means steady flow of product. :D Looks like we are going to need each other's help more than ever this holiday season boys

Spotted a couple of "Flying Undertakers" at one of the local Walmarts. Kind of strange since I never found any "Ridgerunners" here in Kansas City. Has anyone found the "Petie 2nd" at Walmart yet? I think that is the one I will get if I find it.

I doubt that Petie 2nd will show up at WM. It has the proper "victory / kill marks" on the side of the nose. I would look to online retailers for this scheme as it is not PC for retail shelves. It is a very cool scheme though!

I found 3 Migs at the Denton walmart and
an M-48. The store at 1171 and 35E has a humvee for $9.00. The store at 121 and 3040 has 3 Migs also and a bunch of $1.00 1/144th tanks. Just thought you Fort Worth guys would like to know.

Went to the Dunnellon, FL WM today. About (no joke) 50 Motorworks 1/32 Whirblewinds and flakpanzers. There were two 1/18 Seemann 109-Gs for $39 so I grabbed one of those. No 1/18 vehicles or tanks anywhere in my area.

I found 2 Smoke II F-104s at the Atlantic/441 Walmart in Coral Springs last night. Looks like they added some Hanomags and SEAL Mutts too.

I was shocked to find three MIG-15 models at Walmart here today. I wish they would have been the S2 Chinese version.

Louisiana... I think that has been the closest MIG sighting relative to south Florida to date.

Getting closer. :D
