bleh.

It looks like it has retractable gear . The previous 21st versions had nice retracts with a steerable front wheel.

They both look great, but I wish the typo was correct and the arty was actually 1/18...

The BF isn't the FW we were expecting but was worth posting anyhow for those interested. I'm sure we may see something on FW-109 and Harrier over the summer. Maybe at the next toy/model convention perhaps.

Does anyone know how far along the Fw190a is? Is it really going to be released this year??

I like the lines of the BF-109 E more than the G.
As far as the 21st 1:18 models go, the BF-109 G had much more detail than their E model.
Sort of the beginning and end of 21st Toys, their aircraft were getting much better. :|

I'd like to get a look at the JSI/Merit FW-190. 8)

The Galland 109E looks good, and an improvement over the old release.

BUT, I do have the old release, so probably not for me. However, if Merit was going to do a 109E, Galland is a good choice, but wonder how many 1/18 collectors already have this plane?

I was thinking this re release of the 1:18 109 E might be good for custom paint schemes.
I haven't seen many 21st 109's around, if the price is right I may got one. :)

I think the weathering on the 109 is VERY much overdone !! Anybody that has been around real aircraft knows that panel lines are not that prominent, even on heavily used aircraft. I would prefer no weathering at all to an over done and non realistic attempt. It would require a complete repaint to fix it. Good weathering needs to be quite subtle to look right. The outline of the top of the rudder also doesn't look quite right to me. Just like the earlier 21st 109E. The shape was corrected on the G model. I suppose they deserve credit for getting the canopy almost right.....

Interesting. That BF-109E looks pretty good and kind of fun to see a 13 year old tooling still getting new life. I'd consider getting it, if anything for the improved canopy. That alone fixes the overall look of the plane. Looks like the gears might be updated as well. Hopefully they would have also plugged the screw-holes on the underside of the wing as well. Never understood why 21c didn't do that on the Bf-109E tooling.

I have the original 21c Galland Bf-109 (and also the S1 "White 12"), but would strongly consider this as its an improvement that would fit better with my 21c and BBI Bf-109Gs.

I'm feeling similarly worried. Altho the new 109 is nice I'm not interested. It's announcement made me more concerned than anything else.

I'm not too worried at all. I'm sure they are moving along on both as planed. We should be seeing pictures pour within the next month or two. And if my predictions are correct since these are new toolings it might be until July 18-21 when the next Comic Con event happens. For some reason it seems to me Merit prefers to reveal some of their new works/prototypes at conventions first before displaying them on their site. Especially, when it pertains to new 1:18 aircraft and armor. Maybe to draw in more interest from retailers/buyers before moving them into production. Who knows.... :)

if they're gonna release another 109E- Yawn- let's do a true rendition of Helmut Wicks bird with the heavier mottled camo with the correct kills and his personal lil bird emblem than QVCs bad example.....

bleh........ bleh is right!! they could re-tool a lil bit and do a F84F Thunderstreak which is the Sabres lil brother, I personally would prefer that over another F-86

Here's a great link I found on the history & development of the Harrier jet. Reveals many different liveries too.

Well its official Merit will be at the next Comic Con in San Diego booth #5349. Now the wait is on whether or not they will have both prototypes on display.

Well, its been sometime since we heard anything back from Jim/Merit regarding both aircraft. I guess they are keeping things quiet until Comic Con. I really hope to see both of them on display by then.

One thing to note, according to an anonymous source a couple of our friends over at The Fighting 1:18th will be there in full force to gather more intelligence. I'll post a link once they intercept and upload the critical data on their site. Stay tuned.... : )
