Detroit area, near Tel-Twelve Mall. Have yet to see them anywhere else in this AOC-7A Caribou wrote:blurx7 wrote:What Toys-r-us did you find them at? I live in Battle Creek, and our tru has been gone since the shutdown of many stores, but sometimes I get over to the Kalamazoo one or up to the Grand Rapids store. I think there's one in Jackson too.Well, 21C wasn't kidding about the VN figures being close to ready. I walked into a TRU today and they had three of the new figures on the pegs (Mustang, Bonehead and Six-pack). I don't know if there were more there before I arrived or not. They may have had all four.
They look good. I am more a small scale guy so 1/32 is more my thing, and I am more a WWII guy so I did not pick them up for myself. But they are out there now

Well I found (Sort of) the new Vietnam figures. I went to the Kalamazoo TRU because I had a $5.00 McDonalds monopoly piece and was hoping to find the new figures. I looked around and looked behind a DAK figure and Boom, there was a 173rd airborne fig! But it was empty!!!! Then I found another one, but it too was empty! So after searching behind every box in the isle, I found four empty packages. I was pissed!
I asked a worker if there was anymore in the back, but there was none. So I figured which TRU was closer, Jackson or Grand Rapids. I went to Jackson, and there was only DAK figures. So In short, not a good trip. If anyone near Kalamazoo can get to the TRU, keep an eye out for the figures. The coupon expires on the 11th, so I will try to get back there before then.

21st C VN figures
I was lucky to find a bunch of the 21st C VN figures down here.
Doesn't help me out, but helps out a friend of mine, so I grabbed them all on 2 different trips. The only other 21st stuff they had was DAK figures, no good to me until I figure out a way to paint 'em up for the Euro theater

* New Vietnam figs , Now @ TRU !
I ran across 3 new Vietnam figures while I was @ a TRU here , last night.
* Lt. Benjamin "Six Pack" Reyes
* Pvt. Mike "Bonehead" Good
* .... and somebody else named
"Sharples" ,.. I passed on him.
I bought the first two guys , but I must say ,.... I AM NOT IMPRESSED BY THESE NEW VIETNAM FIGURES !!!
* THE BIGGEST TURN-OFF , is the "popeye" articulated arms they have. The non-articulated arms are NORMAL !!!
Figures ! *

A TRU experience !
Oh , and while I was there @ the Kenwood location , I noticed something quite bizarre , a different P-51D "Old Crow" , silver , w/ a "red tail".
* It obviously was'nt a bbi OD "Old Crow" either. ... It was a 21st.Century "Old Crow" in silver , in the bbi P-51D "Mustang" box , someone had switched. *
* "I noticed the crappy "Bud" pilot figure too , that also gave this away". *

Yes, I have 2 of the black VN soldier.Morian Miner wrote:Just curious, has anyone found the black Vietnam soldier. Reading through the posts, I see people saying they've found the 3. I'm wondering if TRU isn't getting all 4 that were shown.
Although, on 21stC's website they had his name as:
Clarence "CJ" Jackson
But on the card I see:
Clarence "Mojo" Jackson
???

my ABQ TRU connection came thru, and I got me some VN figs as well as a Brit para.
75th what do you think about the VN figs, I think they look great!
also notice that you can put the brits beret on the black VN figure and he looks like a Somali or something...

I think the NAM figures look good....I would have loved some of those new legs..and extra arms to be in a prone pose....we need our soldiers to fire from the prone...
there is custom possibilities!
now the names and nicknames are nice but the ranks should be appropriate with the gear and figure.....for example a LT does not carry an M-60....

I wonder
will there be a NAM "TIGER STRIPE UNIFORM" repaint set?????
what do you guys think?
I think it would be a great idea for LRRPs and SEALs.
I'm always thinking ahead...

Prone would rock..
I've taken some VN figures and kit bashed the new crouched legs onto some of the recent D-Day figures. They look and work out great.
Had to do the hot water trick to pop the peg out of the torso but after that it was easy.
It looks better on the U.S. troops due to the boots being the classic GI combat book look in VN and WWII. I put the crouched torso on a D-Day german and it looked great, but the boots and pockets on the pants were an obvious inaccuracy.
If you don't have the Dragon figures, this is a great way to crew your Pak-40.

Went to a TRU in Lewisville, Tx and found the new FW-190 as well a few P-51 Bull Frogs. On the armor side, I found several new camo Pak 40 schema. I also noticed that they had halftrack quad 50 cal with a new tan/green camo. Have not seen this new paint schema since the last round of halftracks was only the dark green paint schema.
The recon is on...
Re: halftrack quad 50...very welcome intel, warhawker...gives hope we'll see reissues of the German 1/2 tracks that came out at the same time as the original quad 50...
