Not that I dare compare the 2 movies. What was that Top Gun movie with Nicholas Cage and Apaches? I'll be getting one of them soon also. Then the Pavehawk and Lil' Bird for Blackhawk Down. Yes, I do believe that is enough fantasy for 1 33yr old child.
Fire Birds was the movie.

UPDATES :

here is the mail from a nice person from http://www.hwjapan.com/

"Dear Mr. Phillippe

Thank you for your inquiry.

We have closed pre-order for this product already,
but importer Kawai Toys said that they cancel order once,
because of the change of spec of this model.

The revised released date of this item will be in May,
and we suppose we will receive pre-order news of this item next month.

Please keep paying attention to our website.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Best Regards,
Aiko Oishi"

When is the next toyfair that might provide some news on the 1/18 F-14?

next toy fair is NYC, Feb 15th - 18th. Hopefully we'll get some news then but I'm not getting my hopes up, Toy Fair is losing steam for smaller manufacturers since it's stupid expensive to do anything at Javitts center. All the big companies have their own private showrooms over by flatiron.

i used to really look forward to toy fair but not any more. For years it's been losing my intereest plus half the stuff shown never sees the light of day anyway.

Now i get excited when a new product hits the shelf....not before.

This is weird ! I would have thought that the F14 would have triggered an huge interest in the community but not that much ? and the really strange thing is the secret surrounding the "Company" ? this item was on pre order and then went "secret" !

I am dying for some more infos (Jason from Admiral Toys raised more questions !!!)

Please let's join forces to find some more ....

Is there any correspondant from JAPAN in this Forum ?

For what it's worth, I got this from another message board on the 1/18 F-14:

"The mystery is now solved. the company that is producing this model is KAWAI TOYS from japan.they are doing this F14A TOMCAT INBLACK KNIGHTS SQUADRON VF154.they are only doing a 1000pcs first run and they will be exspensive,ie $200-$300. they are not new to model making, have done a few in smaller scales. hope this answer your questions re mystery plan."

I got this from another website:

"Kawai Toys is releasing the very first 1/18 scale F-14A Tomcat toy! Set for release this month, this release is limited to 1,000 pieces, with a tentative color scheme of the VF-154 Black Knights CAG(Carrier Air Group Commander) aircraft, modex number NF100, however there is still no confirmation on the definite color scheme. Equipped with sweeping wings, missles, arrestor hook & more, this iconic aircraft has been in demand by 1/18 scale military toy collectors for the past couple of years.

The F-14 Tomcat was made famous in such movies as The Final Countdown & Top Gun. Retired in 2006, the Tomcat entered service with the US Navy in 1972. While used as an air superiority fighter for years, in the late 90's, the Tomcat witnessed rebirth as a precision strike fighter; the Bombcat.

The Black Knights squadron flew the F-14A model and were stationed at NAF Atsugi, Japan. As one of the last operators of the F-14A, the squadron was also a Bombcat squadron. Since that squadron is one of the most famous in Japan, it is fitting that the first release might be painted in their markings."

That's my post from ToyARK.com.

I suspect we will hear more about the Tomcat but not for a few more months. I haven't heard anything lately on it.

This sounds pretty cool. I don't like VF-154 but maybe I could put Jolly Roger decals on it? Maybe they could produce plain versions and sell decal sheets? I wouldn't want to pay $200 for a squadron I didn't want at all.

Is there anyone here who bought one of those 1/32 F-14 puzzle kits from 4D Vision/Famemaster? If so, what did you think? They look good from the pics, but wow that's expensive!!
