[quote="rmoore456"]Received an e-mail from BCA saying the Lost Squadron Avenger has been shipped to me.

The e-mail must have been an error. My card has not been charged nor is a charge pending.

This is the thread should not be sticky - hell, the whole thing is a misnomer. There should really be 3 stickies imo - one for each company. New stuff does not need a sticky because it's thread will be kept on top by frequent posts.

Well when you're moderator you can do it that way. :P

Personally, i disagree. Significant new releases each deserve their own sticky for a few weeks. It will usually get a few hundred posts in it. Saves time having all the posts concentrated in one sticky, rather than a more generic sticky which may have discussions about a few items from that company. Also, newer members won't think to look in the more generic sticky and will keep starting new threads about the newest releases.

Usually after a few weeks have passed and the new post rate drops significantly, i cut the sticky loose. Eventually it will drop off page 1 and by that point people are usually using the 21c or BBI thread to post finds, ask questions about it etc.

I think it's a pretty good system, to be honest.

Also, when you have it in the 21st Century, it gets very congested to stay on that one topic when searching for other 21st century gems. They seem get lost in the many post.

So, Moderator - what's your defense of this Avenger sticky? :P

Oh, and I didn't say new items didn't deserve there own thread, just that hot threads don't need stickies by definition.

An F-86 sticky? It has been out for over 6 months, no?

The Avenger has its own sticky because, despite of the fact that it has not been released yet there is still a lot of discussion about it. Plus, as i said, new members will constantly be starting new threads asking questions about its release date etc.

I also feel that its release is immenant. So blah.. :P

I debated whether or not to make the F-86 a sticky or not and decided to until something new is released. Then i'll unstick it. There are two new repaints plus the silver finished version, which have just been released, so there is bound to be a good amount of chat about it.

Plus, sticky's don't cost nothin, so i said 'what the heck'...

Don't fear, the F-86 sticky is the next one to go, as soon as there is a new release...

I hope that is true... I had a bet with someone here that we would see them before Aug. 1st. I only have 3 more weeks...
That bet still stands with me TKO! I would put a count down on this thread but the powers that be do not allow it.

Actually you said:
For TKO211,
Ok, I will give you under until August 31st, 2006, 11:59:59 PM but not a second more! How does that sound?
If you like we can sweeten this bet?
I think there are more like 7 weeks left before zero hour.

In the BCA newsletter, they indicate that the Avengers were passed to a large retailer - obviously Wal Mart - and that their Bunker Hill exclusive will probably not get made. The question now is, where will the Avengers show up first? My guess is Georgia, or the midwest, with the rest finally reaching the west and northeast half a year later :?

Check my Walmart today. No sign of the Avengers.

Then again, no sign of a 1/18 scale A-10 either :P

Just saw a show on tv about a new container ship that can cross the pacific in 10 days. So the 50 additional days must be for customs delays.

Maybe BCT is pissed because 21C pulled the exclusive not the others?

Interesting development. I wonder why the change. Perhaps BCA did not get enough pre orders.

probably WM was demanding them first....or something like that. WM has the clout, so whatever the reason for the change it would have been to make them happy.

3 mores planes

Post by supersonicfifi » Wed Jul 12, 2006 7:44 am

hi evrybody !

i just received the BADCATAVIATION news letter with this part :

"Hello Collectors!!

Summer has brought news both bad and good.

The news on the 1:18 Avenger is the former. Despite an agreement with BCAT to promote/launch/distribute these new aircraft, it appears that the initial production run was sold to a large discount retailer, instead. Naturally, we find this extremely disappointing and costly, and even more importantly, upsetting that we can't come through as promised for our customers.

We are in the process of issuing refunds on Preorders for those who elected to prepay. Orders for the Atlantic and Lost Squadron versions are on hold in the hopes of getting a secondary shipment or finding product on the open market in the reasonably near future. Our exclusive for the Bunker Hill version will likely be cancelled.

On a brighter note, the vacuum left by this event rippled quickly throughout the industry. Within hours, we were contacted by the other, 1:18 manufacturing powers and secured exclusive production agreements for three new aircraft that were either backburnered or in initial development. With the 'Cats weight behind the production of the new birds, things are rolling now. We can't disclose the new planes yet but are scheduled to receive these in October, November and January, respectively"
.

so i guess ther will be 3 new planes coming !!!!!!!!! i can't wait to know !!!!

Interesting observation:

Did you notice on the Bad Cat website home page there is a new aircraft being shot at by the Jap Zeros.

It's a SBD Dauntless!

I will take that as a definate hint.
One hundred and fifty three - 1:18 scale aircraft on the ceiling looks  damn good!
