Main Landing gear painted.

Rough cut openings.

Canopy track

2mm trim around cockpit

Epoxied the wing spar in one side of the fuselage. Back spray on the cockpit and landing gear bay.
Image
Image

Wing X4 attachments and mounting screws. I decided to use 5/64 drill for the X4 pylon mounts instead of gluing the pylons to the wings. The wing mount screws were drilled with a #59 bit and counter sunk with a 5/64 bit.

Trimmed the vacuum formed canopy acrylic as close to fit then used a dremel sanding band to get the final fit. After painting I will use Super-Gold glue to set them into place. The Super-Gold will not frost the acrylic like normal super glue will.

On the canopy I ran a thin piece of styrene .9mm wide x .41mm thick around the edge of the canopy to provide a stop for the clear acrylic.

A little heat from a hair dryer helped shape the gear door piece.

Just fantastic Nathan. The video only shows part of the process that goes into a project like this,
there is so much more. Nathan thank you for making the 183, I can't wait to get started on it.

Excellent job. Looking forward to the painting scheme. To me this is one of the most difficult part of the build.

pizzaguy wrote:Looking for thoughts on a Focke Wulf TA-183 Huckebein. I was watching a show on the history channel and seen the 183. Obscure little jet. I've been wanting to cut my teeth on a small project. The Komet seamed to be a natural choice, but I read about it being developed by Merit or Pegasus.

The 1/18 scale would be 21" wing span x 20" length.

I would like to make the kit from fiberglass. Few parts from resin and the gear in metal.

I want to keep it simple. No flashing lights. Non-functioning surfaces. Static gear.

The original 1945 project was terminated before an actual aircraft could be produced, so how does everyone feel about making a plane that didn't really exist?

I haven't looked back threw old threads, so if anyone is planning to build one let me know and I'll look at something else. I don't want to step on toes. At this point it's just a dream. I have nothing invested.

Check your messages please. I want to buy some stuff from you.

First...That is Fantastic :!:

Second, from some of the different angle shots you can sure see how the leap to the MiG-15 and F-86 happened in such a short time and where they got their shapes!

Made some progress over the week. Between getting the kids back in school, sports and moving my daughter it's been a tough week.
I was able to get some pre-shading done
Image
Image
Image

Base coat of sand beige. The pre-shading is coming through just a little.
Image
Image
Image

Some brown base for the camo
Image
Image
Image
Image

RLM 81/83
Image

RLM 81 over the brown. The vinyl stencils have been removed for the white background for the decals. Black stencils added and painted. Once everything is dry a coat of Future was lightly sprayed on left to dry for 24hrs. The Future will be a good base for the decals.

The next pics will be of the decals added and dull coat applied. Thanks

Well Nathan, you have totally exceeded my expectations!

The first photo looks EXACTLY like the computer generated image I sent you for the camojob template, incredible.

All the detailing is also really well done - including the cockpit.

All said - Absolutely Awesome Job - and thank you again for creating this stunning custom model!

Regards, Juha

Full kits $290 +sh
Full build $475+sh

I have a full build and two kits to complete. One maybe full build. I would like to do a couple more kits and maybe a full build before I wrap up this project and move onto something else. I would like to get a full build for myself somewhere in there.

Nate:

You did a great job on this just like you did on the Dauntless you made me. Still loving the SBD-5, it turned out so great. I am very glad this project went well for you as well. You will make the people who ordered very happy I am sure.

Hope you are well.
