POST ALL 21C Me-262A & NIGHTFIGHTER DISCUSSION HERE!
262
Someone who has one please post close-up pics or give a review. I think for a lot of us this plane is hard to take the plunge on when you can get the earlier one for so much less.

I know what you mean Tinman, I personally think the canopy hinges were a problem on the 1/32 scale Me-262s. However, from the official pics, it seems to be resolved in 1/18....... but on the 262Bs (nightfighter) we can only hope. I am waiting for the nightfighter version as well, I think the white/greyish scheme with a black underbelly is very sharp.
P.S. I hope we hear news on the nightfighter soon...![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

I should be getting mine from BCA tomorrow, and I'll post a review/detailed comparison shot with AT's ME-262.digger wrote:Someone here must have one...we need someone to step up. I might have to take the $80 plunge myself..gulp!

Review
Here's my review/comparison of 21st's ME-262 vs. AT's ME-262.
![Image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/GooglyDoogly/ME-262/1.jpg)
COCKPIT
21st wins this one, hands down. Their version has better detail, including nylon seatbelts. AT's cockpit is okay, but 21st clearly the winner in this area.
The 21st's cockpit...notice the nicely painted instrument panel, and the seatbelts.![Image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/GooglyDoogly/ME-262/2.jpg)
AT's cockpit...works well enough...but if you're a detail kind of person...then you'd probably want the 21st's bird.![Image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/GooglyDoogly/ME-262/3.jpg)
LANDING GEAR
21st also beats out AT in this area. Their 262 actually has details inside the wheel wells, unlike AT's 262. AT's 262 is soooo simple-looking and toy-like, compared to 21st's 262. And 21st's landing gear also has a locking mechanism, unlike AT's landing gear.
Notice the fine wheel well details on the 21st's plane.
![Image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/GooglyDoogly/ME-262/5.jpg)
The AT's 262 looks toyish by comparison.
![Image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/GooglyDoogly/ME-262/4.jpg)
FRONT LANDING GEAR
At first, I really like 21st's front landing gear, because it just looks nicer than the AT's...but as I look at my ME-262 reference, I think that AT is the more accurate one.
The real thing..notice the long and skinny strut.
![Image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/GooglyDoogly/ME-262/Me26209.jpg)
Unlike 21st's short and fat front landing gear.![Image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/GooglyDoogly/ME-262/9.jpg)
AT's landing looks much closer.
![Image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/GooglyDoogly/ME-262/8.jpg)
PS: I forgot to mention, but 21st has better details on the engines.
GUN BAYS
I'm not sure about this one. I'm leaning toward AT in terms of accuracy, but in terms of quality, I'd say that 21st and AT are just about equal.
21st's gun bay....
![Image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/GooglyDoogly/ME-262/6.jpg)
AT's gun bay....
![Image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/GooglyDoogly/ME-262/7.jpg)
PILOTS
The 21st's ME-262 has a brand-new pilot....but God....what is up with 21st making silly-looking faces?
![Image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/GooglyDoogly/ME-262/11.jpg)
Well...I shouldn't be too hard on 21st....at least their pilot doesn't look like this....*shivers*
![Image](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/GooglyDoogly/ME-262/10.jpg)
So there you have it. Does 21st's ME-262 warrant the $60 price? I think so. The paint scheme alone is worth it. I love AT's historically accurate paint scheme....but to me, a Luftwaffe bird has to have some mottling!![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Excellent comparison!! Thanks for taking the time to take the great pics! Tough call on this on whether to delve in the pocket to get the 21st version. You are right about the motted paint job. It really sets it off.

Thanks for the great review - its about time we got one
Both planes seem to have their good and bad points, but I can definitely see where the 21c plane comes out on top in certain respects... Still, I think I'll have to hold back on this one and wait for the nightfighter variant. That way, I can have two ME-262s and the great quality of the 21c version without duplication ![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

so your saying AT underestimated the desire for quality pilot figuresWell...I shouldn't be too hard on 21st....at least their pilot doesn't look like this....*shivers*

21C front gear difference was likely to reduce breakage, as it looks beefier from your pics.
The AT Me262 was their what...2nd Plane produced so nobody should be too hard on them. I still laugh at my S1 ME109. One day I'll take the wing apart and fix that gear.

Incase anyone is wondering.. 21st's Gunbay is correct..
Here is a pic of Tamiya's 1/48 Me-262 which shows the correct configuration and 21st's looks spot-on..
I think 21st's is the clear winner here, in almost all aspects, but as noted previously, AT is still new and they have more than enough room to improve with each plane.

They do! I finally had a chance to put mine together and though I am not the biggest AC fan, out of the 20 or so I have this one is the most like a model. 21C really called our bluff on this one - we wanted gunbays, details, pro paint work and we got it. But at what price? This plane costs more and took a while but imo it is worth it. If you claim you want more detail you better be ready to put your money where you mouth is....Do the cannon line up with the ports?
Googly had some good comparison shots but here are some more photos.
There are as many wire ties on the fuselage as there are on the pilot - 2!

Here you can see the guns do line up:
![Image](http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e260/diggernyc/262gunbay.jpg)
The flying surfaces have crazy range of motion, and there are 6 moving parts to each wing!
![Image](http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e260/diggernyc/262Wing.jpg)
The tail too has great range:

![Image](http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e260/diggernyc/262tailfin.jpg)
As said, the cockpit is highly detailed:

A bit of dihedral:

weathering:

Nosegear looks correct in length but just beefed up so not to break. Also the nose has great shape - looks spot on. Here is the actual #7 vs. 21C:

This is the actual #7 kill marks vs. the 21C:

Chubby tires and great paint work on the interior surface:

This thing is very front heavy which is great for gear down display. The cons? The pilot is nice, but still not to bbi standards. Also, you need a tiny screw driver (glasses type) to put this thing together. It is more model than toy.
