Not quite 1/18 (more like 1/20) but cool nonetheless...

And if the 1/6 guys can have a B-17, I don't see why we, in 1/18 can't.

BTW, 1/6 wingspan is around 17 FEET. Too big for my bunker, but whatever floats your boat.....

21C made a waist gunner in 1/6, now DML is bringing out a waist gunner with the section of a B-17 body that includes the gunner position AND a small manufacturer is making a ball turret... Life is good.

as far as a 1/18 b-17 goes, there is already one available. You'll need to be fairly handy, as the wings and tail surfaces need to be built from plans but the fuselage is molded, as are the cowls and nacelles and all clear parts are provided.

The EAM r/c B-17 has been discussed on here a few times but newcomers may not be aware of it. Will cost around $250, take a fair bit of work to make but the rewards will be very satisfying. The built up ones i've seen are stunning. Will only weigh about 8 pounds when done, which is a very reasonable weight for hanging it.

I may be handy building models and so fourth but when it comes to building a B-17 like that all I can say is: FORGET IT!

So will the Bush Avenger be far behind?

(I still don't have a single model in my as yet non-existing collection, but can't wait to get hold of one -or both- of these beauties.)

BTW, can anyone of you who actually own an Avenger enlighten me as to where the radio operator/rear gunner figure should be placed *inside* the model?

I am waiting for the Bush Avenger also. After reading Flyboys I was interested in this plane.

Bad Cat has new picts of the production Bunker Hill Avenger up tonight. I really like he color on this one, though I am sure some of you will probably pan it as not being too accurate. :P

It looks good but,,its missing one thing that all of the Avengers modles should have.

With a huge wingspan most people would display the aircraft with the wings folded, and you would think that 21st would make custom wing fold caps that have the detail of the wing fold mechanism. I already have made some inserts out of thin card bard I have the templates made and need some plastic styrene.

And yes the wings do fold and function properly, it even prevents some of the wing sag…. If I make the plastic templets, could some one make molds for the parts?

Not to accurate? I think it looks pretty damn good if you ask me.

That Bunker Hill Avenger looks great!! If I dare say, it is the best of the 3 21c Avenger paintschemes out, and the BadCat production sample looks better than the pics of the plane seen at the Toyfair. Its very tempting to place order it, but I like my "Flight 19" Avenger enough not to warrant the BH version. Then, as a previous post reminded me, there will eventually be the "Bush" paintscheme, and that would be the plane to get

I agree it is the best paintscheme, might even be better then the Bush Avenger.

But I also agree that the Bush Avenger is the plane to get due to the historical importance of his plane.

I think one needs to get them all.

I guess the Bunker Hill Avenger will be available at Bad Cat first then other retailers next. If I remember correctly, this was supposed to be a BCA exclusive. I guess the deal with 21st fell apart.

From the BCA website:

"Our direct shipment should arrive about a month before general distribution to local retailers".

Perhaps another retailer will have them for a cheaper price - though BCAs current price is not too bad 8)

As far as BadCats exclusives go, they haven't always been strict exclusives. In the past, I've seen the 21c Boyington Corsair at my local Hobbytown USA store and a couple other online retailers. (It turned out there were a few extras that didn't go to BadCat).

Also, the aparently BCA exclusive BBI F-18 "Red Devils" also had a few examples that went to my local Hobbytown USA store. There's still four sitting there currently

According to BadCats' web site the Bunker Hill Avengers should ship tomorrow 7/31/07, for those with a pre-order in. WOOHOO!!

Now I can't wait for the Dauntless, and the F6F, man I hate waiting.

I wish I had know that these weren't going to be exclusives anymore. I probably would have cancelled my order and waited to see if they showed up at WM. Oh well, mine is on its way now.

I sure hope they show up at WM. Too steep for me to get them at the on-line retailers.

Well I got my Avenger yesterday, paint was decent but it had a broke prop. Nothing a little superglue can't fix but I know you can hear it rattling around the box. Just a little annoying that my last two 1/18 planes had issues.
