TTT, that's weird you mention about how your AO W.M.'s doesn't put XD on clearance. My AO stores never do either. In the stores I frequent, there is about 3" of dust on the M113's and F104's. Maybe it's a N.J. thing. No clearance prices on XD!!!!

It not just you guys. I have seen a broken Motorworks boxed 190 that they refused to put on clearance. It disappears for a few months, and returns to the shelf at full price.

So I've found a grand total of 6 items put on clearance in the time I've been collecting XD. 2 were surprisingly the 3/4 ton Dodge, and 4 were Fw-190s. I'd bet money the 190s weren't on clearance all that long either.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

Clearance is a word not used frequently in my AO. The only real score I ever made was last year when I found a stock of Ultimate Soldier 1/18 Command Cars in an old TRU, on sale for $2.50 each. I bought six, but I did leave one. They also had Walker Bulldog tanks at around $10 bucks apiece.

Centone told me quite a while ago that treasures can be found in old, messy TRU's. I never pass a TRU that has been around a while and always check 'em out. You just never know. Great advice from the mellon eating Hitler.

WM and clearence.
I was talking to a very knowledgable WM employee about how WM does their clearencing. She told the Store Manager is given a dollar amount each quarter to be used as the Store Manager sees fit. This corresponds to the amount the store has sold. The more a WM store sells the more they are allowed to clearance and get rid of. But to me that sounds backwards. If you don't see much and you have a great deal of stock, you need to discount it to get it to move and be able to bring in new stock.

She had been with WM for long time and seemed to know what she was talking about. So, unless anyone out there that has better or more information to counter what she told me. I will take this as how WM does it's clearance thing.

I have even found the store manager and pointed out the aging, messed up boxes of XD in his Toy Dept. Asked him point blank - when are these going to be discounted. He would say that he was looking into it. I did notice about 3 months down the road the M113s and Bradleys had been reduced down to 25.00...

As for TRU, about a year or so ago they had 90% off on clearance items and some of the stores had a boat load of XD to unload. I found Fountain Sets and Command Cars down to 2.50 But of course, the command cars had many a broken items on it. But you really can't hurt those Fountain Sets. I still have about 6 of the Fountain Sets still. I managed to cut one in half and it make a really cool gun emplacement.

When they first discounted their XD to 50%, I went to my local TRU and some guy had beat me to all the Farmhouses and Ruined French Building that I had kept my eye on! :x

It's great when you can get clearanced items at WM or TRU. I too, had the fortune of purchasing some fountain playsets and several farmhouses for 75% off at TRU. I felt like I found a pot-o-gold when I saw those items just sitting on the shelves with those discounted prices! Haven't been so lucky at WM though. The WM's in my area don't even know the word "clearance" when it comes to XD items. I've only had the fortune of purchasing the tan Bradley's at $20. Nothing else has ever been clearanced. There are still a ton of the ME-109's, RC M113's and PZIV's sitting on the shelves.

Luftpanzer is right stating that there are too many people in N.J. with lots of money. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them and could benefit on XD being on clearance. BTW, today I found about 12 grey R/C Panzer IV's with the the shortened barrel. They'll probably have 10 by this time next year at full price including the 2" of dust, free of charge.

I'm guessing it is up to each individual Walmart - but they all quote WM Old testiment Policy - "we have to do what the computer says etc." Walton 23:9

Speaking of M-113s They had a few of the old Motorworks back on the shelf full price when they sat on clearance at $25.00 for months last year.

I always hit the same Walmarts around the same time for the big discounts. Some I can talk the managers down on price some I can't get them to blink - I even show a lil' leg - for those WM Calander girls.

Funny thing is they do flips for the Hotwheels crowd - holding whole boxes for certain dealers.

I think I'll hold out for the non RC version and pick up the avenger instead.

A WM in my area had like 20 of the things stacked high on a side wall shelf, at the usual $49.99 plus tax.

A Wal Mart in my area stocked about 8 each of the S2 Panzer IV Hs and desert M113s from nearly a year ago. The boxes were new, but a bit dusty

Re: How WM does it's clearance thing...I was told the same story by the toy dep't manager at a local WM, and I believe her...she was lamenting that there was a lot of stuff she would like to discount but had no leeway to do so...I'm curious as to why some stuff is put on the shelf right away at clearance prices, but I wasn't gonna stir up that pot...they might not even always be aware when this happens, so why ask why...? I just say a quick prayer of thanks after using the price checker & bolt towards the register... :)

I think it was found on a clearance aisle at Full Price by a hiker looking for DEET.

I could be wrong.

My AO W.M.'s have a bunch of the new Grey R/C Panzer IV's. If anybody needs them, drop me a PM. The "HUFF", Pak 40, M16 and Fuzz are pieces that I'm looking for. They haven't made it here yet. Bill
