Hi Everyone,
I am not entirely sure on this but I think this is how this is set up.
The Planes of Fame museum website was done by Britt, and uses Britt's photography. In return, Britt has his photography stuff on the same domain name and this forum. I think but am not positive that Britt is the exclusive rights photographer for the Planes of Fame museum, so I think he has access into the Planes of Fame site too. But not entirely sure on all of this. The only reason I know this is because the Planes of Fame site uses much of the same graphics as Britt's own page. I have a feeling Britt did the design work for them on the site and provided the photos. His photography site is a spin off of that site, as well as this forum.
I think this is how it works anyway

Here's the full scoop.
As the warbird-photos.com domain name started to expire across the DNS servers on the internet, people started to have problems accessing the site. Aferg jumped in and put up a rally point in case things went badly. (And thank the lord he did because if you've been though this before you realize how little you know about the people you've been talking to, and that you have _no_ other way than this board to find them).
So as Aferg was putting up a temporary site and Razor was trying to e-mail the rally point information to everyone who got disconnect and save (via cut and paste) membership listings and other critical data from the site, the feeling of dread started to come over me that eventually I would also lose my connection why my DNS entry for the site expired.
Since I do this for a living, I started doing some digging. The SSHQ website is a sub-domain of it's parent warbird-photos.com. Though P-51 (aka Britt) is the owner of the warbird-photos.com site, a friend of his named Nick(who has also not spoken with Britt in quite a while either) is in charge of the ISP, server, domain and software that run both warbird-photos.com and sshq. Nick's company is the administrator of and is hosting both sites for free today.
So after trying to reach Britt with no luck. I was able to reach Nick and spoke with him several times today in an attempt to get this fixed. He responded wonderfully (given I must have sounded like a wacko and that it was a Sunday afternoon) and took care of everything (at his own expense!).
Nick got the domain renewed and is now trying to help me track down Britt (who will also think I am a wacko since he and I have never spoken).
Anyway, apparently Britt has been active on MSN (logging in and out) and his voicemail still works so he is around (or at least his computers think so) and I hope that I or perhaps even "we" will hear from him very soon.

I believe Aferg is right. The first part of this forum's address is warbird-photos.com and that is Brett's photo site. This forum is a link (or whatever it's called) off of Brett's main site. If you go to it you can view all his galleries from different airshows he has photographed. I remember contacting him a while back about purchasing some of his photos I viewed there. He does do photo shoots for the Planes of Fame Museum, but I don't believe they have anything to do with the operation of this site. Reading the fine print at the bottom of the main page you can see that he owns all the graphics, photos, and such on the website.

Thanks to all you guys' efforts this weekend.
I was talking to my wife about this on Sunday (probably wondering why she was seeing the front and not the back of head in front of the computer). Like Grunt1 said, this shows just how little you know about people on these web sites. For the most part, if suddenly one of us stopped showing up in the forum, nobody would know what happened. Did they lose interest? Get ticked and leave? Or is something wrong with them? In most cases, no one would know. Its cool to be able to chat with people all over the world, but still some benefit of seeing them face-to-face.

Again thank`s to Afgerg & Razor for the temp site & Grunt1 for pushing the Unseen one`s to keep this site up for one more year.
With that I DO believe we need to discuss a plan of action for the future & so am IN with the donation/committee ideas. hell even the MOVE idea too if it`s going to help make SSHQ a Safe haven indeed
What`s been said is so accurate too about the knowing our friends here BUT not well enough that when here is down we`re lost.
Apart from a what 3 possibly 4 that`s all i know of to contact via other means.
A Secured (Need Mod assist to access/verifie you) Address book (where we all leave emails, tel numbers if you want) maybe a Good idea just in case.
As for myself yesterday was a LONG day. being that I`m in the UK & up before you guys to find NO SSHQ yesterday was a shock to the system, then told scopeUK,then thankfully Glen emailed me & that lead me to the Temp site,to which i told Lance & ScopeUk about.
So anything that can prevent a repeat would in my books be Upmost
As we in Europe have to wait a fair few hrs till the US joins the land of the waking & see`s what`s possibly gone down.
Anyway ONWARDS & UPWARDS & lets pool together to make sure SSHQ has a LONG LIFE.

Many thanks to all those whose efforts seem to have kept us up and running.
BTW, I also have never heard of the "Planes of Fame" museum, not being a plane nut and being a vehicle nut.
The idea of a private forum is not a bad idea, I belong to forums where I applied for entry and after a while, was aproved to allow me to post. I always assumed the delay gave the admin guys time to check that I wasn't a porn site or nut case (or a teenager wanting to cause trouble), wanting access. Was I off base?

Thanks to all who have helped keep our home here!
Quick thinking on Aferg and Grunt1's part. Bravo!
It really was neat to see us all work as a team and try to make sure we didn't "leave a man behind" as we all moved to the temp site. Well done!
It's strange some of us lost connection and others never did...
Aferg-I have a spreadsheet of all the members and email address of those that put that information in.
It might be a good ideal for those that have not or chose not to enter a email address to add that to their profile. I can go back in and copy/paste the information into the spreadsheet I created. That way if this would (god fobid) ever happen again- members could be contacted and told were the new site or temp site would be.
I agree we need to connect with Britt and see what he wants to do - as for moving or not moving the forum. As well as Aferg's thoughts on the matter too!!
