Scuttlebutt from 21st is that both the F-86F and the MiG-15 are supposed to be released side by side!!!! That is going to be very cool.

Hopefylly that doesn't mean the people in Georgia get the one plane while the people in California get the other. It would be cool that they come 2-3 of each to a case... but then again, one never knows with Wal Mart.

Should they go to the small retailers first, then that's a different story.

I don't have details but 21st has told me that they have way to distribute the 2 together. 21st obviously sees the opportunity for one to help the other in sales. I think it is why they were created together.

Very nice looking pilot. Far and away the best looking pilot to come from 21st Century. I really like the face detail. Bring on the F-86F! :D

Yeah the silver finish is perfect match for the Sabre! kind of a silver surfer action hero

Seriously though, I really like the smirk on the face kinda cool. I also like the fact that if we grow tired of his "I'm gonna get you suckka" expression, we could always cover it up with the oxygen mask.

Rumors around 21st are that the MiG pilot is the hands down best pilot figure ever. Based on the looks of the new Sabre pilot figure I will be excited to see the MiG driver.

Good work on the F-86 pilot! The expression is cool, but is the helmet also removable? I am eager to see what it looks like painted.

Now to figure out how to obtain one (when they eventually come out) to go in my Admiral Toys Sabre :P

Just took a look at the new pilot. He looks damn good except his arms appear too long. Makes me think of "Right turn Clyde." :D

Tman, all you would need to do in order to get the pilot is wait for the F-86 to show up at Walmart. Buy one and then return it with the Admiral pilot inside. lol

That could be a consideration

The Wal Mart employees - and majority of the customers (especially in my community) - wouldn't even know the difference. Heck, one could put in a 21c BoB German Ardennes Infantry figure in there and it would eventually get sold to someone less informed...

21c F86f intake...

Post by tiger1 » Tue May 23, 2006 11:47 am

Hi,guy`s,i was just wondering why nobody has commented on the intake shape on the 21st version;has the intake tunnel blinded You?The intake shape is way off on the prototype pics, too sharp edges and to exaggerated triangular fuselage shape???The a/t version are not perfect either, but it captures the the look of the F86 much better.
Offcourse it should also have had a deeper intake tunnel, but for me ,shape is more important. That said,i will buy at least one 21st version
when it arrives in the shops..not to mention the Mig15,this just looks to be one of the best 1:18 for the moment.....

F-86 Inlet

Post by aae83 » Wed May 24, 2006 10:39 am

I was wondering the same thing about the 21st F-86 inlet. The inlet leading edge appears to be much sharper than the real bird. This definitely detracts from the scale representation; hopefully, the delivered model inlet will be more blunt. :?

Speaking of deep inlets, when I was a kid, I spent a lot of time crawling over, under and through an F-86 static display aircraft (engine removed) on a playground in Happy Hollow Park in West Lafayette, IN, becoming pretty familiar with the inlet contour. Does anyone else remember that particular plane?

On the issue of 21st sabre nose- You guys have some pretty keen eyes! The funny thing is Roy and I were wondering why others had not caught that sooner!

Just an FYI before everyone gets too nervous. The nose on the 21st Sabre has already been totally reworked. In fact that change happend months ago. The images shown so far are for the first shot sample.
The nose according to Roy Sutherland is now correct.

Varoius other modifications and fitting adjustments have also been adressed.
21st has poured a ton of time and energy to bring the fans the most accurate, highest detailed F-86 on the market. I twill be every bit as realistic as it's arch nemisis the MiG-15.

More photos of the F-86 from 21st will soon appear on AREA-21 where you will see these modifications and improvements for yourself
