Re: JSI SU-27/J-11
Sure like those 2 Russian schemes. Would definitely get one or two of those schemes.
Welcome Berkut, thanks for the great pics. Where are you from. I was wondering if you are outside the USA?

Hi Todd, Thanks! You thought I might was from the US? Is my English that good? I take that as a compliment. I am from Europe.
I hope this 1/18 will be released before X-mas.

Re: JSI SU-27/J-11
so is there a definitive word from JSI as to whether they are makng this and if it will be for sale here? I'm going to wait for a russian scheme still, just wondering if it's happening at all.
With the F-15 being a dead duck, it wouldn't surprise me if this was too.

Re: JSI SU-27/J-11
I'm not holding my breath. It's almost October and no news. If they really wanted to get it out it would have been available for the Christmas season which starts in a couple weeks already. It would seem really odd to release it in the Spring next year - but then again, it is JSI.

Re: JSI SU-27/J-11
good point........you'd at least think there'd be a pre-order by now.
I remember hearing it was only going to be released in china.....i wonder if that is still the case or it's just been abandoned.
Snake: it was mentioned a while ago that the F-15 has been unofficially but probably, cancelled.

Seems that everything in 1/18 is "unofficially, but probably, cancelled".
Other than JSI F-14 repaints. And if I want different F-14 squadrons, I will stick with Century Wings, or Dragon.
Re: JSI SU-27/J-11
I will definitely by JSI's SU-27/J-11 regardless of what paint scheme it is. I picked up two of their F-14s,I was intimidated with repainting the first one to get rid of the spots. It turned out so well when I saw the AWOH one I repainted it to the Sundowner's Miss Molly. Both turned out very well, so I wouldn't be worried repainting the SU-27/J-11.

Don't think there's anything to "keep alive." We won't be seeing this item this year - may not see it next year.

Re: JSI SU-27/J-11
I think JSI lost a lot of money (sales) with the dotplanes, now shops and collectors will not pre-order anything from them who can blame them. I think we would have seen a 1:18 J-11 and 1:18 F-15 very soon if they made the first one in a normal way. Now first the trust needs to be restored again. What a waste, they have great potential but lost a great start because they made such a huge massproduction-error which is quite unique for a big massproduction item. Good luck to JSI!
Re: JSI SU-27/J-11
they haven't done themselves any favours with the follow up 'squiggle cat' either.
I don't get what their problem is. The other stuff they've made has been nicely weathered, why are they having problems with the Tomcat?
And yes, they totally shot themselves in the foot with the F-14. Both in the way they made it and then with the way they handled the situation, treating both customers, and retailers like garbage. It should have been a huge hit.
For now Blackdragon, if you want something in the SU family, best get yourself one of these:

Re: JSI SU-27/J-11
I'm curious as to why JSI hasn't released any new 1/18 models since their original batch (F4U Corsair, P-38 Lightning, Tiger, Panther, etc.) and the F-14----all they keep showing are models to be released in the future. Last year, one dealer had Thomas Maguire's P-38 "Pudgy" for pre-order---but it never appeared.
Just curious, but could the delay be caused by All-Go threatening legal action against JSI for the "stolen" 21st Century molds for the F4U, P-38, tanks, etc.?

If they only could have got the F-14 right, the F-15 and Su27 would probably be happening.
But the whole thing was such a debacle that JSI is not trusted by customers, or dealers at this stage.Even the second release was a "sqiggle Cat". WTH!
JSI really blew it, and as a result I am sure their business has/will suffer. And so until things turn around, I don't believe any chance of seeing the F-15, or Su27.
A real shame.

Re: JSI SU-27/J-11
I don't think JSI as a company will suffer, but their 1/18 line will. Like other companies, they'll simply amputate the dead product from the healthy body of offerings they make and continue as they did prior to releasing the Cat.

I sure hope the F-15 isn't really dead. Looks nice from the pic, seems to have better weathering than the cat:

BTW, this is/was (?) currently shown at the 2010 Tokyo Hobby Show, so perhaps it's just a matter of time. At least one can hope.

Great scoop WW2birdlover..... With that recent showing, we can only hope that JSI still has plans to produce the F-15 at some point.
Go Ugly Early in 1/18!!
Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

Re: JSI SU-27/J-11
pah.....they've been showing that, along with a bunch of other unproduced prototypes, for years now. And they never happen. My guess is that they are just using the stuff to fill up their booth and gauge interest from investors/retailers.
It may happen one day, but if so, they better get smart and change the paint scheme on it, unless they want another mediocre reception to a 1/18 jet.

Re: JSI SU-27/J-11
Thanks. I also collect 1/144 planes and tanks and stumbled upon that link on one of the 1/144 blogs I regularly visit. I also hope to see that F-15 a reality, though would like to see a US plane, particularly one that flew in the Gulf War and actually had confirmed kills. Even if it's one that just sat as a display for the most part during its operational service would be good enough for me, as long as it gets produced. I have to admit it's my favorite US jet from back in the 80s, growing up in that era and watching the Decepticon trio of Starscream, Thundercracker and Sky Warp in Transformers.Great scoop WW2birdlover..... With that recent showing, we can only hope that JSI still has plans to produce the F-15 at some point.
Could be. But they have to start somewhere, and someone will have to take the risk in investing money to get these made, otherwise it doesn't get anywhere past prototype stage. I would much rather see this made than the SU-27, though if it were all up to me I want them both, the F-15 in the US two-tone gray scheme and the SU-27 in Russian sky camouflage. My guess is that they are just using the stuff to fill up their booth and gauge interest from investors/retailers.
I agree that they better get smart with the first release, not only with the paint scheme but with the quality of the paint. Please, no spots or squiggly grime on the plane! :-$
