Wow...
Why would they want to get rid of the A10 prototype? This could very well be what they need to put into production to make them some money.
Is the prototype in such a incomplete/bad condition that it can't be produced?
What are they gonna do with the $6000 if someone bites? Make a new prototype? Pump the money in for the Passion Wagon or KT? Pay off creditors?
now where did I put the aspirin..

Yet "another" nail in the coffin of 1:18th scale.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice (make that about 100 times) shame on me.
If some good news (something like legit info on the KT, Dauntless, or any other) doesn't come soon, I seriously think I'm going to ebay my entire collection and put my money towards something I can enjoy and look forward to collecting...maybe buy a vette.
These manufacturers need to stop dangling the carrot and either sh1t or get off the pot.

I remember back in fall 2005 during Fall Toy Fair when figures.com reported that BBI would be releasing an A-10 but 5 years later(wow it's been that long already), we have seen NOTHING.VMF115 wrote:BBI is rumored to have one.margras77 wrote:So you guys are pretty much sure they only made one prototype?
I'd love to see a BBI quality A-10 sure their models were not as accurate as 21st but their quality control was far better; literally toys for big boys. Don't know if BBI will EVER come back to 1/18 military but I miss their products. Their Mustang is still one of my favorite all time 1/18 toys.
Shin's wishlist for 1/18 and 1/32 with retractable landing gear and more:
F-14 Tomcat, F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-105 Thunderchief, A-6 Intruder, F-15C, F-15E Strike Eagle

the only way bbi will make something, is IF they get a huge order from several on-line places to justify the production cost. and we are not talking about shipping cost which will probably have to paid by the retailer too.
I don't know I could be talking out of my Arse, too.lol

I think you're right, lack of etailer support is what killed the 1/32 F-104 IIRC.VMF115 wrote:the only way bbi will make something, is IF they get a huge order from several on-line places to justify the production cost. and we are not talking about shipping cost which will probably have to paid by the retailer too.

Don't blame it on the "etailers". Consumers were not supporting the BBI 1:32 scale items very well in the beginning, because a) they cost more than the equivalent 1:32 scale stuff from 21st, and b) the usual waiting game hoping the stuff would show up at Target. No etailer had any serious interest in 1:32 BBI F-104 after seeing the response to the other BBI 1:32 scale items. This is another example of: you don't support the product line, it doesn't get made.Shin Densetsu wrote: I think you're right, lack of etailer support is what killed the 1/32 F-104 IIRC.
You also have to consider that at the time retailers were flush with several 1:18 scale F-104s that 21st had liquidated due to having too many, thus why would anyone want a 1:32 scale model when they could get a 1:18 scale version for roughly the same price (or even $10 less in some cases).

The former 21st century, and BBI dumped their moulds and projects on JSI. If you were to see any large scale aircraft, I think you'd find it from a third party. BBi has said no aircraft in 2010...
JSI will be booked for the next 2 years with the J-11 and the F-15...
Allgo is desperately selling off prototypes on ebay...(not a sign of a good start up...)
Admiral may be the only company to surprise us with new releases in the near future... but they were in talks with JSI to just get the already tooled dauntless off the ground...
I think it's going to be a sleepy year... someone prove me wrong please!!!

BBI's 1/18 scale A-10 was all ready to go. They just needed a big box retailer and production was going to start. They offered it to TRU but TRU said 'no thanks we've already got one'.
The 'one' they had was the PTE A-10, which they had just committed to. So, if not for the PTE A-10, TRU most probably would have agreed to the BBI A-10, as they had taken on every other BBI 1/18 plane to that point, and it would have been produced.
Sad but true.
And i saw pictures of it and it was a beauty. Desert Storm paint job, TONS of ordnance.
Very too bad.
