Re: JSI WISHLIST-FROM JSI
Here's my ranking based upon both personal preference *AND* what I, as a retailer with extensive experience marketing these products, believe has the best potential for sale right now. (Note that I have limited my selections/rankings to only equipment listed in the original survey)
Aircraft
A-10
F-4 Phantom II
Mig 21
AV-8B Harrier
A-7 Corsair II
F-100 Super Sabre
Helicopters
Mil Mi 24 Hind Gunship
Ka 50 Alligator
Mil Mi 28 Havoc
British Lynx
HH-53 Pavelow
(Helicopters tend not to sell as well as fixed-wing aircraft, I would suggest that JSI tread carefully here, experimenting with a Hind first, understanding that the market for helicopters is more limited.)
Armor
T-34/85
T-72
T-55
M1126 Stryker
M-109 Paladin
BMP-1
Artillery
105mm Howitzer
V2 Rocket

* JSI wishlist ?
* Good luck w/ all the modern !
....... I would like to see a T-34/85 however. Lots'a potential for this one , even for WWII.
* How about a modern Vietnam era Sheridan ? ... The one 21st. Century made as a proto-type but failed to make. ... and that PBR ? *

Yeah, I think perhaps what they meant is that, historically, there has been far more WWII product than modern; both in terms of types of aircraft/armor, and in number of repaints. I don't blame them for wanting to get away from that. I know as a consumer, I get far more excited for a new piece than yet another repaint of something I already have. And I know, there are still things they could do from the WWII era, but unless we're talking about non-US or German stuff, which is a harder sell, most of the big ones have been done. Modern era on the other hand still has a lot of possibilities.
Also I dunno if it factors into their decision making, or if it even should, but doing modern stuff makes it easier to tap into the GI Joe buying market (though they do seem to be happy enough with their undersized, gimmicky vehicles )

all i want are the "uncommon" WW2 pieces.
Brits and Ruskies....need those other allies on the ground. figures, tanks, planes. all we've got is one british para from BBI, i'd love some more british infantry. also russian infantry. tanks, a matilda and t34/85. an IL-2 for the russians airforce would be great as well.
perhaps even.....free french troops?? then again, with brits and their equiptment, you could make some nice free french and resistance troops.

I think it would be prudent to slip your project about three or four months, gather your data and then test the waters again. By that time, there maybe good enough intell to project if anyone will make the A-10 or not.pickelhaube wrote:Well with this want for info should I scrub my A-10 project ? This could be done by JSI but I think they are a year or two away if at all.
Should I do it or move on to something else ?

And can we maybe get some NEW FRIGGIN' WW2 Figures!?!?
Seriously already... Figures should be the basis of the brand. New WW2 figures are the only things I'm starved for.
Unimax needs to hurry up and get their new ww2 figuers out.
The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.

This is cool. I'm primarily a WWII fan, you can see my list in our own JSI list a little while back. viewtopic.php?t=17943

Aircraft are my only interest . I would opt for
1. F-4 Phantom
2. A-7 Corsair II
3. F-100 Super Sabre
I would also like to see JSI produce existing molds in NEW paint schemes.
Re-hashing 21st's old schemes on most of their releases would seem to me, take out a lot of potential sales, with the exception of the "Pappy" Corsair. Do we really need another F-104 "Really George" release?

McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom holds lots of history and lots of Paint schemes. Such repaints are necessary to recoup costs in the long run. Because of this I believe the Phantom is better for JSI's long run. Check it out and consider the F4 for #1.

I don't know that having a ton of paint schemes needs to be a key factor with the large jets. If people are going to use size as a factor to figure how many a person will buy, having a million paint schemes doesn't really matter if a person is only going to buy one or two. If this is true, having one or two different paint schemes and being recognizable by more than just aviation enthusiast also comes into play in my opinion.
When it comes to the F-15E that JSI is proposing, it is a large aircraft with limited paint schemes available. There is the older camo patern the USAF used, the current two tone gray being used by the USAF, and the IDF scheme.
Also another thing to think about is what subject would also cause collectors of one form to cross over to another because it goes with their main form of collecting.

Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

^ Understood. A-10 may hold cross-over appeal. Specifically with millions of new G.I.Joe RoC fans old and new. Its just a personal preference many here prefer - the factual over the fantasy. Maybe somewhat of middle-ground can be reached. I actually appreciate RoC's potentiality in numbers, sales, and its notable strong female following. Thanks in part to its strong, albeit fictional, female characters. With that said the new A-10 should be far reaching in cross-over appeal. Maybe JSI can command positive media attention with its first A-10 piloted by the celebrated female pilot Captain Kim Campbell.

http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/S ... ry0016.htm
Again, with RoC's strong female following, this addresses the subject of one form of collectors to cross over to another form of collecting. As a first of its kind in the 1:18 world I think this can also cause a positive media buzz beyond the hobby. This broadening of cross-over appeal can spark interest in non-collectors and women to 1:18. Again this is all in the spirited preference for the substantial and factual. If the A-10 is made, it should mean something. It should mean something more than just some potential Rattler repaint for the fictional Cobra and Destro. But hey. Maybe we can use Destro's large female fans to draw their interest to this substantial side of the 1:18 world. Whereas many of those females will appreciate factual substance like the 1:18 scale's 1st female pilot & her plane. Feel free to convey these thoughts to JSI and other sites, HissTank etc, to talk more of the financial importance of cross-over appeal and the need to out-reach and expand 1:18 fandom.
