pcoughran wrote:I would really want to get the FLIR and Terrain following radar as well - it just ain't a real pavehawk with the refueling probe only. Static probe is the way to go. Is it unrealistic to get the whole set (probe,FLIR,and Terrain radar) for $50-$60? Too much more than that and I'll probably consider tackling it myself. I know your labor and the ultimate number demanded will be the deciding factor (the more people want it the cheaper you can make it). For $60 I can get a whole new pavehawk at Aviatornut though.
I've seen a member's post a while back (MIG29K?)who's done the M134 miniguns (a beautiful job!). If he has a mold for that he could probably make some money off this as well.

I would be in for the probe only if that is all I could get though.
I agree with you on wanting the FLIR and Terrain following radar as well as the probe. If these could be done, I'd be willing to pay the $50 price tag for the whole package.

Now throw in a couple of M134 miniguns and the mounts for them and I'll pay for those too. Of course I'm sure a couple of those with the same detail level that Mig29 put in his would be about $50 for a set if not a piece... :D

Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

All the FLIR turrets are going... Upgrade to the EOS Electro Optical System (still can do the FLIR stuff but much much more...Daytime TV, Lasers...etc.) Turret looks different. The MMR in the nose is the same. I need to make one for my Hawk as well.

I can help out on the MH-60 additions...I am a Avionics instructor for the 160th...let me know what you need (within reason and limitations)

I will be first in line for 1/18 conversion kits

If you can get some detail shots of that refueling boom front, sides and back that will really help out.

Also some pics of that EOS thingy would help as well.

And an Air Force Pavelow version. Sad thing is the CH-53 Pavelow is currently being retired and the Osprey is taking its place.

I'd love to see one in 1/18 too.... :D

What we need a Chinook in 1/18...something that is proven and will not be replaced.

i want a vietnam era ch-53, rescuing a downed aircrew.

Sadly, all our helicopter wishes are likely to go unanswered and r/c helicopters are not much help because they are either piddly small or cost thousands of dollars for anything approaching 1/18 scale.

They're also very tough to scratch build or make out of paper models so it's a frustrating niche..

Well this aint no Pavehawk but who would like a 1/18 M-24 Hind ?
This is a big helo. Price tag would be $400-$ 600 for a custom job. Lots of money BUT WHO ELSE IS GOING TO BUILD IT ?

Any feed back ?

I'd like to get the pavehawk for now. Some of these others would be huge in 1/18.
A couple more pics. Hopefully these are large enough you can zoom in for some detail.

Nice Pavehawk pictures. Anyone know what that line is on the inside of the refueling probe?

BBI

If you could do a CH-53 for reasonable money i'd be in. Doesn't have to have fancy detailing; just the body, rotor hub, glass etc. I can detail it myself.

A HIND??!!!???!!?
I'd go for a kit, unassembled parts---especially if it helps keep the price down.

Oh yeah.

Hind Quarters

Post by lightning2000 » Fri Jan 09, 2009 1:55 pm

Hi,
I'd go for a Hind in any scale! I cant believe no one has offered one yet in diecast. Hobby Master was rumored to have one in the wings and Easy Model will purportedly make a plastic one in 1:72 scale. Trouble is, how long will we have to wait until it materializes...

I can see it now---the BBI 1/18 HH-53 rescuing a downed BBI 1/18 pilot while being escorted by the Admiral 1/18 A-1 Syraider while the attacking 21st Century 1/18 MiG-21 is shot down by the 21st Century 1/18 Steve Ritchie F-4 Phantom...

Come to think of it, maybe I can't see it now...

Blackhawk

Post by Coreyeagle48 » Fri Jan 09, 2009 7:13 pm

Greetings:

I am anxiously awaiting my Pavehawk. Looks like a nice big model. Here are some more action photos. Enjoy!

Blackhawks fly over my house on occassion. Probably from Fort Indiantown Gap. We see a lot of Chinhooks, Blackhawks and an occassional CH-53 and Huey around here. Sometimes they are even carrying loads though I don't know where they are heading with them. This was taken over the summer. It would have been cold here with the doors open today.

Image

Here are two shots of one of the Coast Guard's Jayhawks in action. These were shot at the 2006 Atlantic City Airshow. I apologize for quality, I did not have as good of a camera as I do now.

Here's one more photo of the Pavehawk USAF Rescue Helicopter. This was at the Atlantic City Airshow in August of 2008.
