Yes, it's a business. Does that mean it's ok to misrepresent the facts in order to make a profit?

"Everything included here is long out of production."

Remember, Bernard Madoff's pyramid scheme was a 'business' also: Madoff Told Employees Business Was ‘One Big Lie,’ SEC Says

hahahaha, Aferg, that is so true! I have purchased some stuff from BCA and like to think of them as a standup company, BUT why would they say the PR things are long out of production and rare when you can find alot of these still carried by Etailers? I think they would have sold them for the prices they ask for even without the claims of rarity. I do not belive they are willingly trying to cheat their customers but the claims are definitely misinformed.

Already have all of these. Think I paid $25 for the Sky Captain P-40 at Wal-mart.
The 1;32 Sky Captain Tomahawk is actually rarer, and most times commands a higher finishing bid on ebay.

They're white lying when they say "long out of production" depends on your point of view of long.
It's just business to hoodwink the one's entering this hobby... suckers.

If you want to talk "Private Reserve" is when Badcat saved some of their exclusives like the Pearl Harbor Zero, and "Cripes a Mighty" P-51D.
They then put the last few on ebay and let the public have at em' once they go to BCA and find they are no longer in stock, but yet Badcat is auctioning the last few, they go sky high because everybody panics.

To me it's just smart business. They were the ones to put up the money for these special paint schemes, so they're entitled to do as they see fit. If it makes them more money to get exclusive paint scheme warplanes like they used to, more power to them.

I'm just glad I've been in this hobby long enough to know what's what, and I bought all these a long time ago, even the real "private reserve" Badcat Exclusives.

So it's OK to lie to peole entering this hobby because they're... "suckers?"

I guess this goes a long way in explaining some of your earlier comments in the off topic section, BTW: "we should be concerned about is even the slightest suspicion of inpropriety."

Really?

It would seem that impropriety doesn't bother you in the least when you're not the one being hoodwinked. Go figure.

Ah, yes it is and SOLD OUT at most retailers.. I have 3 HM Phantoms (including this one) and HM is getting ready to issue their 4th release.

Badcats "sale" looks more like they hit all the TRU's in their area and are reselling what they found. :P

Not defending anyone by any means but doesn't out of production mean that an item is not being manufactured anymore? It doesn't mean something is not available. May be semantics but its true. Its a common term used on ebay and they are not misreprsenting what they are selling the majority of the time. Some of the items are in abundant supply but its true that they are not being made anymore. Maybe its the word "long" that is bothering some of us.

I have have had several dealings with BC, some great, some not. Each time it was by my choice with regards to the item and price. Each person has to use their own judgement in regards to what they want to purchase. BC has the right to try to sell what they want, at the price they want. If I feel the price is too high, I "bloviate" in front of their warehouse cam and watch the item gather dust.

Definitely LOL prices.

I can't get rid of my Ritchie F-4 by Hobby Master ever since I found out he's going to prison and got some weird vibe from it.

Whoops, haha. Got the names twisted, I guess that happens when you're up on diecast forums checking for new stuff constantly. Now I'm glad I grabbed the JR F-4 to replace the Cunningham.

The old saying goes
"Somthing is only worth what someone else is willing to pay!"

This is the nature of the collecting arena. things you buy today maybe worth nothing in a week. but maybe worth ten times that if a guy really wants it!

You certainly have a way with words. It would seem to me, however, that you're contradicting yourself again:

It's just business to hoodwink the one's entering this hobby... suckers.
Which is the reason why I quoted your other contradictory statement. Yeah, pathetic, I know. Quoting you verbatim, what was I thinking of?

Funny thing is you didn't address this direct question in your latest comment either:

Is it OK to "hoodwink" people entering this hobby because they're "suckers?" Yes or no?

C'mon, don't be coy. Let us know how you really feel about newcomers.

It looks like a Lionel Ritchie 1/18 Phantom will be released before a Steve Ritchie 1/18 Phantom...
