hotrodrock wrote:I saw a projected price in one of your earlier posts and realize that was only a projected cost at that time, which was well before you were finished. I wasn't quite clear though if your final price, when decided, was for a complete Wirbelwind or just the turret and guns?
That would be for the turret and the guns. Heck the yellow Panzer with green stripes is going for $125 to $150 right now. The R/C ones are still cheapy. One just sold on ebay for about $36 plus shipping. So if you pick one up and put my turret on you are going to have a $300 plus custom tank.

I think that I will do the guns stand alone. But that will be done after thw Wirbel turret is complete. The 88 is selling in the $80 plus range but that there will be about 10,000 of them made . I guess if I get an order for 10,000 the price would come down.

SURE !! Just PM me.

Thanks guys for all of the kind remarks. It was nice to get off of aircraft for awhile . Armor is a lot easier let me tell you.
I have been casting the guns and they are coming out real nice. The muzzel flashes are not working out that easy though. I need to re address these.

VMF if you want to make the flak ring out of steel go ahead !!! :D It would be cool and less work for me.

Wow. Just, wow. Pickelhaube, you've done it again. Amazing. I salute you good sir. I wish I could do this, I really do. I'd do it for 1/32 and 1/18. But I don't have the money nor skill, so I guess for now, you carry the torch. God speed.

The gun is done. It is a shame to hide this in the turret. After all this work I have got to make a full quad with shields and all.
There are 339 pieces of plastic , copper brass , alunium and stainless steel in the constuction of the gun and stand. The scope and optical guide moves with the guns when they elevate !!

Wirbelwind build is done !!! Now is the time for mold making. This and casting will determine the bottom line on price. I was kicking around the idea of offering the forum members a discount price as long as I meet a pre determind amount of sales. Again this will be figured after the production is started.
I will throw this out to you guys. I am making these things to make money. This now is the end result of all of my customs. My regular work has bottomed out. It so far is none exsitant. Do you guys like the step by step process that I have given you ? Or would you prefer that I just show you the finished product when it is ready? I will take any reponse into deep concideration.

I am now accepting pre-orders.

Here are pics of the finished Wirbelwind.

Ok here you go guys.
I was thinking if I get at least 12 orders from folks on the forum I can sell these for $85 a pop. I need at least 12 to make this work.

BUT I SAY THIS NOW BEFORE PRODUCTION . THAT TURRET MAY BE A HUMDINGER. IF SO I MAY HAVE TO GO TO PLAN B.

Plan B is the $100 tp $125 range .

Plan C if it is s GIGANTIC PAIN IN THE A$$. And it is much more work that I have to decide to do suicide or pour another mold. $125 -$1,000,000

Any body in ? I have 5 preorders so far.

Very nice work. I'd order one but I don't have an extra chassis to put the turret onto.
