Bad cat and price gouging? Or is it the high cost of doing business in California, I think it’s the high cost of doing business in California, higher taxes and higher gas prices are making Bad cat raise their prices…Me thinks …I don’t think there is a conspiracy here, just simple market economics.

Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Your guns! Ack, ack, ack, ack, ack!

They might sell a few at that price, like the Custom Fw190-As, A few will go but after that, They'll be collecting dust on a shelf, Anytime that you can get a better deal on E-bay on a item---Something's wrong----

I'm sure every consumer across the U.S. feels great sympathy for the high costs of doing business in California. ;)

Frankly.... I feel great sympathy for the air they have to breathe...  but I hear it has improved somewhat in the past couple of decades.

Yes, the air is indeed bad, but when you factor out the Hurricanes, Tornados, high humidity, etc. it makes things a bit nicer

While I do feel that $80 is a bit high for the Tiger I (I bought the original at TRU for $50, and the said Eastern front version for $60) the price is, to me, still somewhat reasonable. $80 is more acceptable for the Tiger with its full interior, engine, and accessories, whereas it is not quite such a good price for the Panther or even the King Tiger, with their lack of detail.

I'm beginning to think this is a marketing ploy by BC. They have done this more than once now. Advertise a piece at a high price and then drop the price so we think we are getting a great deal. But then, $50 is a pretty good price.

Special purchase huh?

I hope no one bought it for 79.99.

Because if they did, they'd feel pretty "special" right about now....

So funny that when the truth comes out that this will be readily available shortly the price drops down to reasonable. There is no doubt this was a BCA money grab at having first dibs on these.

80 pieces were brought into the USA. This model has been out of production for 2 years. The supply is short and demand is there, that's just the way it is.

We priced a rare item accordingly and you bashed us.

We lowered the price to give the board a chance at a deal, and you bashed us some more.

Same with the Panther.

Corey, they're all yours.

Pro tip: Price your merchandises according to what your business needs.

If it's too much for some people, they will complain and probably will not buy it. No biggie, others will.

But to be hurt by comments by some people, that's kinda...

In a Western Capitalist Democracy, businesses are entitled to make a profit. Cool.

In a Western Capitalist Democracy, people are allowed to voice their opinions. Also cool.

i just think people are tired of getting gouged and having it blamed on 'oil' etc. Prices will go up a little bit because of oil......not 40% or more all of a sudden.

And as far as i recall this board wasn't created to be a Badcat Toys love in. People can voice their opinions freely. You don't seem to mind when people sing Badcat's praises. Can't have it both ways guys.

Maybe you should read what's posted here and learn, not read it and lash out...it casts you in a very dim light.

I agree.. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, be it good or bad. Badcat is entitled to sell their product at whatever price they choose, good or bad. But if it is considered bad, Badcat needs to be prepared to hear about it.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the $9.99 Tiger tank sale at TRU way back when. Remember that?

I always swim against the current on this topic but cannot seem to stop. :D I see a direct correlation between our casting stones at our manufacturers and suppliers and the fact that we hear from so few of them now.

I for one would prefer less complaining and more news from the hands that feed us.

Fire at will.

I'm sorry, but if a professional organization cannot take criticism, they also can do without my cash... that goes for 21st Century, Hasbro, or anyone else.

You want to see a company take flak from fans? Talk to Hasbro... I have. I've bitched directly to them, and they take it and turn it into a positive. I've been told, directly by Hasbro people at conventions, that MY griping has made changes within the Star Wars line. Not even a large vocal majority, just that they have heard little old me! I was simply astonished to be told this, as at the time I hadn't even met anyone from Hasbro yet, but when I found out gripes I have made in the past lead to positive changes, I was ecstatic.

What does that mean? Well I think 21st does talk to us somewhat through TKO... FOV has no proven track record on talking to the public, do they? I'm not familiar with them anyway to know that... BBI was never really vocal to us, nor was Dragon... So I can't say we're really not hearing from anyone we've heard from in the past. 21st still talks to TKO but I think there just isn't much for them to say right now.

What they should do is a bi-weekly Q&A where 3 or 4 questions are asked and subsequently answered, everyone submitting their questions (and no random discussion!) in one thread, and TKO (or whoever) picks what to ask. It works for Hasbro, it's a proven formula, it cuts down the "other stuff", and it makes the collectors feel important, and it also tends to "leak" little teaser info too.

Call me crazy, but I think that works...

If any company cannot take criticism though, especially from their consumers, they really need to rethink their professional capacities.
