......Also, if you remember the prototype of the P-40, it had a better windshield and canopy.

For anyone interested: 21C just added the Flying Tiger art as a wallpaper free for downloading. It just became available a couple hours ago!

Badcat also seems to have them up for preorder - at the nice price of $57.99  Remember when that plane was $40?

I predict this thing will be a bust! Crappy rehashed mold in a new box.
Sure wish they were spending the time on a new mold instead of the box.
These will be on clearance soon enough ya'll

This is not one of 21Cs best efforts, but I bet many people who missed out the first time will be glad to get one. I recently broke down and bought a loose one. I wish I had waited to get one from BCA. :?

Even if the mold is the same I am sure the paint and decals will be a vast improvement over the initial release. 8)

I have to agree that this bird is begging for a retool. A P-40F would work since it wouldn't require lengthening the fuselage.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

I heard somewhere that the p-40 was made like it was because of a strength of the mold, or fuselage or something.

The article on AREA-21 explains why the Flying Tiger is being re-released and why there was not enough time to make changes other than decal quality and the SE box art. There is no hidden agenda or cutting of corners on the reason for the reissue. I agree that it's not as good as a new plane all together but don't think that it's repacing any other project or robbing budget or anything like that. New things are in the works and they will come regardless of this release.

There is a need / and demand from newer fans who missed this airplane and when the TRU requests came in and timing was a challenge, 21C realized that this was going to be a good fit and it would serve many requests from all sides.

Personally, I have a Flying Tiger P-40 already and I don't see this as the most exciting announcement for this year, but it's not intended to be. It's a reissue for those that want them and that is it. Also I have it on good authority that the run is quite small. So that also supports the idea that it's planned as a "not for eveyone" release. 21C knows that most of us have this plane. But for those that don't... It's good news!

Agreed. Any business that is out to make a profit has to do what it can to keep the revenues flowing in. If the re-paints are thought to be great sellers then so be it. Those that will benefit are lucky. Those who won't will have to wait it out for newer and hopefully better products.
