Coming Heng Long Chinese MBT , I have a crew of Power Team PLA figures waiting for this one.

I'm not a big modern armor fan, but that's neat.

There is no 1:16 Abrams is there?

Ditto, especially modern Chinese armor. Just not interested at any price.

Jesse, Hobby Engine makes a very nice 1/16 Abrams.

That chinese tank looks like a type 96 or whatever it was that PTE made. Which was just a prototype and not mass produced. The mass produced version has a different turret, much like the modern Leopard has.

Odd choice but i guess they're trying to appeal to their home market.

Unless WWIII breaks out, i'm never going to be into collecting Chinese armour...heh.

I'd love to get that 96, but the one I'm after is the Leopard A2, Tamaya has one for like a grand but Hobby Engine has one for less thna 200 bucks, I guess I know which one to get.

I'll believe it when I see it ... then I'll get one. Probably will be a limited run.

Gotta have something for the M1A2 to battle against!

The Hobby Engine takes several hundred to get it up to par if you plan on running it. It's 1 stick assigned to each tread and the damn things are the ugliest rubberbands you've ever seen. Also, 1 speed fits all.


I have one 2/3rds of the way converted, just needs HL electronics and a mounting plate for the new gearboxes, but just don't have the time/money to complete it. Has Tamiya tracks and sprockets with custom milled sprocket adapters for the steel HL gearboxes from RCCommand.

My local Hobbytown got in a nice selection of Hen Long RC tanks: M-26 Pershing, M-41, Panzer IV, and Panther. All were priced at $129. This was the first time I had the chance to observe these up close. Quite impressive. The detail is good - not quite 21c tank good - but good nonetheless and the RC features seem neat. I was very tempted to get the Pershing. Its a big tank already and so won't dwarf my 1:18 vehicles by all that much

Still, seeing the level of detail on the Hen Long tanks and comparing that to the 21c RC Panzer IV really shows what a good thing 21c had going with their RC tanks...

Of the ones I own the Mk III and the Stug III are the best detailed, the Tiger is not bad either. Soon they will have a very big target to attack, when the KV-2 is built.

The new Panther and Jagdpanther had nothing molded on, even the grab handles came on a sprue. The detail goes up with every release and is matching if not trumping 21C (I consider individually linked treads and functioning suspension an important detail).

The linked tracks and suspension is pretty much all I needed.

21st's Tiger, to me, was their crown jewel. nothing was ever better than that IMO. It's as good as the worst 1:16 RC tank I own. Just my perception, but the RC tanks are just in a class by themselves.

I love 21st's stuff, don't get me wrong, and it's better decoed, but RC stuff's my new love.

Jesse, don't even get me started on the beauty of metal treads, suspension and detail parts. It's way too easy to drop a few hundred dollars on aftermarket parts for these badboys.

I can't wait until the KT hits the US market. It's been almost 2yrs since my last tank.

Trumpeter makes the T-34 that everyone guts and puts HL electronics and gearboxes into. Since they are a model company the details are good, but I would stick with HL since the IR battle system is not compatible and they have a much wider selection available. HL also has parts readily available for any needed repairs in the future.

Nice detail, crud electronics. I converted my T-34 to Tamiya electrics and also converted one to an SU-85. I wouldn't mind getting the Tiger one day since it's a mid production Tiger.

Yea I got one today for that reason, there's also a guy selling the late version wheels on eBay right now for only $25, they will look great on it allong with som zimm work...

Hey you said you did a SU-85, Whats the best place to pick up conversion kits like that?

Although with mine the fighting compartment sides were separate pieces and required lots of work to get it all to fit together right. Actually I knocked it recently and some of my super glued joints came apart so it's back in the repair/repaint line. What should I be using to glue resin together?

Jealous of your T-34 TD. I was very close to buying one prewired from phil since I suck at soldering and am still procrastinating rewiring my Leo 2.

i used to use krazy glue on any resin models i had. I found it worked well. The nice thing about resin is that if you can get them lined up properly, the broken pieces will glue back together seamlessly.

Well if you can't get hold of a SU-85 Jnewboy, Trumpeter are planning a SU-100 so we might get an RC version released as a follow up. thanks for the glue tip Aferg. PSguy, why worry, collect first, upgrade later.... maybe.
