maybe 21st is getting everything ready for the news. maybe they want to have all thier ducks in a row before they give out any more info. I bet in time we have some great news that will make some happy.

All I want is confirmation that the 88 will be released within the next 4 weeks and will be sporting a pleasing desert sand color. Once that occurs, I will put away the pitchfork. And this too...

As well as can be expected I suppose. Nothing that some news wouldn't fix.

Actually I think someone fixed the leak for a while. ;)

It's fun breaking balls on this topic, and that's all it is. Just gives us something to laugh about since there hasn't been anything close to a flood so far... Soon maybe, or not... I dunno. A story a month would probably keep people satisfied.

anybody else beginning to think that something's up at 21c. The appearance that the WM deal might be over and very little news, inspite of lots being promised.

I wonder if this is the end of days..

Hope not. That'll bring my participation in this hobby to a screeching halt. I'll only be able to repaint and redecal my tanks but so often. After that, it's gonna get reeeeeal boring.

Oh man that would not be good. I know that the supply of 21st products has gone from bad to abysmal at the WalMarts in my AO. :? :?

I guess they're still trying to determine where to place the dynamite at the base of the dam.

I think it is more a question of biting off more than you can chew. When you try to shut out the competition with claims of being the first and biggest, sometimes it can bite you in the a$$ when the time comes to show your hand. I think they may be trying to avoid that embarassment, at least for the short term. My local WM and TRU are both carrying quite a bit of 21st, but nothing new--it seems they can't produce it fast enough or large enough to meet their retailiers' needs.

That sure is a gloomy outlook...while the flood announcement might have been premature let's not fear-monger. However I do think no more 1:18 AC at WM has been on the wall for a while now - if I were you I would rethink my proclamation that the 262 will be there for $40...

JJ, I like how much credit you give our group. I see you said an article a month would keep most happy. People were complaining with 2 in a week..

as i've said a number of times, 21c would never have produced the 262 without the commitment from a major retailer to stock it. And as we've all seen numerous times, WM and even TRU carries 21c products for far less than the online etailers do. I suspect it was originally going to be $40 at WM but with the drop in the US dollar and the spike in oil and transportation costs, maybe $50.

What i now feel may have happened is that WM has, fairly recently, pulled the plug on stocking 21c items; airplanes only perhaps, or perhaps everything. Don't know. But the considerable consternation that such a move would cause at 21c headquarters could easily explain the silence we are getting, instead of the flood of news we were expecting.

From the birth of the WM deal, we have never seen a stretch of time where nothing new has shown up on the shelves for such a long period. Granted there has not been alot new come out but certainly the new figures, quad trailer and even the 262 should be showing up on the shelves by now. Shouldn't they?

Unless 21st had to make some sort of deal with TRU for exclusives. The Otto figurs are different. And I haven't seen the new DAK at WM--and I haven't seen the new tankers at TRU.

I have seen planes at WM again for the first time in ages, but I don't know if it is resupply from 21st or just digging stuff out of the warehouse or distribution center. And WM does seem to keep getting new 1/32 stuff. I just get the impression that 21st may have had to offer each exclusives--and since TRU charges the higher price, they may also pay a higher wholesale price (pretty much guaranteed, actually--we know how WM works). So I could see 21st shifting their focus on 1/18 (and even 1/32) to TRU. And since WM seems to care less what the get as long as they get someting.... We'll know more by November or so, I suspect. I will say that if TRU is serious about the stuff, it greatly improves the odds of a Phantom, Mig-21, or B-25 from 21st. Up to about 1 in 5000 odds, I'd say.

Last year around this time we saw empty shelves, resets and :

- Marines, sahara figures and japanese on clearance for $3-$4
- Brumbars and the 88 kits for $9
- Various 1:18 German 109s (Seemanns, Hackls, Sahls, etc..) for $25 or even less.

Then suddenly, we had:
- 2-3 waves of D-Day figures
- Migs and Sabres oh my
- Avengers
- 1:18 P-51's, P'40's
- hanomags, halftracks and pak 40s
- plus tons of 1:32 and 1:144 items. Too many to mention...

Now if you all are complaining as a way to use reverse psychology on TKO and the 21C team so they'll cough up some info, just elbow me and I'll shut up. :P

Haha, true... However I will stress that it would keep "most" happy. You can't please 'em all of course. One story a month would keep the masses salivating... In a positive way. Maybe two stories would be better.

Even I'm becoming a bit of a cynical douche over the "flood of news" though. I mean, it ain't floodin'. :)

Not that I really care, it'll come I figure and it's out of my hands anyway, but still I'm not even in ankle deep water yet.
