Why The wait-some speculations

Hi guy`s my theory is that this plane was taking more effort then planned,
and then the admiral came along, and most of the energy was pushed over
to 21st f86/mig 15 project in order to try to "arrest"the admiral f86 sales-
and keeping the avenger on idle, since it`s most unlikely the competition
would try to match this complex model....
just my two cents

The torque and leverage being put on the hinge will certainly over-stress a simple plastic hinge after some number of cycles, especially because the movement has multiple lines of force, which until someone is accustomed to it, means they'll probably at least weaken it the first few times.
The engineers and modeler consultants should know this before they even sat down in the beginning. The complex hinge action should have been the first issue to resolve and made out of metal, not plastic ( if it isn't already).

Having worked with Japanese made machines for work, (over 19 years servicing) it is simply amazing at what engineers come up with that shows little common sense and a total lack of understanding how real world usage affects the reliablity of their machines. If theory suggests .9 grams of motor torque, then that is what they design for. One thing about engineers, they DON'T like to overbuild a product. And then send out "updates" as the dealers yell and scream when the parts break during demos.

Perhaps they did do a run and the wings broke in packaging, and had to retool the entire wing. Or they took manpower away to develop that new super detailed scale 1/144.

Business competition usually spurs rapid product development.

I would suggest 21C pay for a group of collecters a full factory tour all expenses paid trip to China to actually see what goes on, so we can get the word out :D

If you haven't read the news lately over at Bad Cat...it's not too good. They have pushed back (naturally) the ship date to late July now. I wonder if the shipment ended up in the same place as the Lost Squadron.....?

I'm glad I didn't ask them to charge me now. I was hoping to get a couple but I've lost alot of my enthusiasm and cancelled my North Atlantic Pre-order. I'll just wait on the Bunker Hill version to match my Corsair.

Don't dispair. It turns out that the new 1:144 pocket Avengers should be ready by the end of June instead.

Kidding,......just kidding. Gawd, I'm going nuts here with the waiting already.

Avengers have been delayed, they cut production!

BadCat says they stopped production, and will not resume until all the problems are done with!

I guess we will wait another year or so damn it!

I hope this doesnt mean we lose our money from the pre-orders!

Check out the BadCat site for more information

That is bad news...

The only hope is the first shipment is going to WM and the small retailers are the ones wondering when they will be getting theirs. If not then the situation has gone from insane to obscene...

Perhaps the name of this thread should be

"Opps... they did it again!".

I wonder how much money 21st is losing over the Avenger, what has it been three years or something in development, numerous delays. They almost HAVE to release it now to get some of thier money back. It seems it would have been easier to make an A-10 now. I hope we get an explanation from an official source on this latest delay.

I can't imagine the problem isn't solvable but like any manufacturing process, there can be pitfalls even experienced product designers and engineers can't forsee in pre-production.

What many people don't realize is that quality control usually has the last say in these kinds of assembly-line product issues. Lots of finger-pointing can go on before a team of people finally comes up with the real solution, but putting the right people to work on it usually produces the desired result.

I only hope it doesn't discourage them from stretching the product line into larger airplanes.

On a down-side note for those of us who collect these things and simply want them as soon as possible, they will probably learn from this that the less said about future products the better.

Ask yourself, would you not buy a Hellcat in Vraciu's markings or a B-25 in Doolittle's (hint, hint) if it suddenly appeared, in stock and ready to ship on an on-line retailer's website just because one of the manufacturers hadn't pre-announced it?

Anyone willing to NOT get their hands on a cool item just because they didn't get advance notice of it? Not me. Life's too short to worry about being first to know about these things.

A marketing conundrum, indeed.

My father inlaw isn't going to like this...
http://www.badcataviation.com/tbmav1nodued.html
I told him about the delays and now this, He flew in TBM's some 63 years ago. Well some things are out of our hands as well as 21st's. When the Avenger gets here it will have been wourth the wait.

Can we rename this thread to: 21st Century Toys TBM Avenger, The wait has just begun!

Eh, we still have not gotten official word that there hasn't been a full run that is on the way. Not saying that we ever will get another "official word" on the Avenger, but just that this line could be BCA's bs spin on the situation. Afterall, they were the impetus for this thread, including the title.

I am not going to pin too much worry on the recent bad cat news. 8)
Play it cool, I promise that the program is not canceled, scrapped, or anything of that nature. I have a pretty good hunch we will have them in collections very soon!
