The Zero is a great plane, but... there's one problem with mine. It cam with two left horisontal stabilizers! One was correct, the other was painted as the right one, event though it was the left. That was a factory error, and I corrected it (more or less) but I'll still call BCA and see if I can get the part replaced. Otherwise, the rest of my plane was flawless. That may be something to watch out for...

Let us know what Bad Cat says about this error, just in case some more of us get our Zero's with the same error.
Thanks

Just called BCA, described the problem with my Zero's stabilizers (to Maria, I think), and she said they will send a new one out when the customer service rep comes in tomorrow, and that it should arrive by the end of the week Thats some good service, for those of us who may face future problems :D

I have in the meantime modified the incorrect stabiliser by shaving off the base of the "T" shapped peg on the stabilizer so that it fits in the groove on the fuselage. At first glance it doesn't look too bad, but then one can see that it angles downward a little too much and there is a gap.

Both of mine arrived this morning and I immediately looked at the rear stabilizers to look for the mistake you mentioned. Both of mine fit fine, one would immediately see that the Kanji on the bottom of both stabilizers are in the same direction. That is way the Japanese write their language, only in one direction. Sorry if this is not the problem you were talking about.

No, my problem, simply stated, was that the planes correctly come with one stabilizer that fits in the left socket and one that fits in the right. Mine came with two that fit in the left socket! (Though one was painted as though it were the right stabilizer, meaning the markings were actually on the underside.) Its soon not to be an issue, though!

Hey Bruzzer, did the Sahl and Hackl 109s come with the swastikas in the box or did you order seperately?
:?
Thanks!

Got my Zero today! Looks nice, however the cockpit was difficult to get into the plane. I would have liked to have the cockpit easier to remove since they added that feature. Planes looks really nice, love the movable surfaces. I'll have to take it and Hurry Home Honey to the museum with me next time and get some photos of them with the real deal.

Ski, thanks for answering the question for me.
Does anyone else's Zero have the aileron balance horns on backwards? I can't find many profiles of Zero's even having them so I may eventually just cut them off. I'm controlling the urge and just leaving them alone for now.

Mine are backwards as well. The A6M2 and A6M5 Zeros I've seen in person both do not have those.

Mine are also backwards, so its a general production error - but a very minor one at that! I have a 1:72 matchbox A6M5 Zero that has them - facing correctly.

I'm looking at my zero and wondering, it looks big to me. I thought Zero's were rather small airplanes. Has anyone checked the measurements?

Now I'm getting concerned.....
I still haven't received any shipping info. I have checked/turned off my junk mail box. I even called my credit card company this morning and it dosen't appear to have been billed to me yet. :(
I want to call to make sure it's on the way or at least going to be on the way, but they say NOT TO CALL! If they have misplaced my order (accidents happen) I just don't want to be left out in the cold :x . Their website says not to call, and they will put all extra planes up for sale after the orders are filled.
Anybody got any reccomendations as to when I should ignore their "Do Not Call" and ask? Maybe Matt will be looking in here on his coffee break and PM me for my info

Brian
Yes Dear, I know you said no more planes, But this one is special!

I'm sure you are ok to call. BCT is now over the work hump and if I were you, I would be on the horn!!

You know, the sad thing I now notice is the rise in prices. BCT's base price (other than their $49 preorder) is now $52. Well, that sucks. What used to be $45 just a year ago is now up to $52...... I guess it can be called an oil induced price increase. However, Walmart hasn't shown this tendancy. It's getting tougher to get that second plane :(.

I called BCA yesterday about something related to the Zero and there was no problems with my calling in. They probably give the no call warning just to shy the casual callers away (as I'm sure they get alot of questions like when the Avenger will be abvaliable, will 21c make a B-29, etc), but will still take more important calls pertaining to actual business!
