Thanks Pickelhaube! I've been waiting 10 long years (beginning of XD) to finally have a room just for 1/18 :D . There's a special place of honor on a small display table just for the future Ho-229! :D

yes i've got one. It's almost exactly 1/18. I bought it over two years ago from a place in western canada, which was the only place i know of that was selling it. I suspect it is no longer available.

You can read through this thread to see if you can find any info on it. It's made from balsa strucure with coloured covering over it. Not bad looking, not as good as FSK quality wise but it's the only game in town.

anyone looking for a sort of scale Su-47, here is the closest one i've found. It's smallish...more like 1/22 but still 41 inches long and nearly a 30 inch span. Price is good. Wait a few minutes before ordering and a pop up window will offer a $2 discounted price, just over $38.

Here's a fun one, though not military. It is a bomber however. Canadair CL-415 water bomber. Very nicely executed. 1/20.4 scale. The price can't be beat. $40. The dimensions quote a length of 730mm (about 28 inches) but in fact, i've been told it is 970mm (about 38 inches), wingspan is 55 inches.. Way cool.

Avro Arrow, the greatest fighter that never was. Cancelled amid great controversy that remains to this day. The same thing that killed the Valkyrie, killed the Arrow...the surface to air missile....in the case of the Arrow it was the belief that SAM"s meant fighters were no longer needed. Or so the story goes..

r/c is about 1/21 scale, at 43 inches long and 29 inch span. I think i'm gonna have to get this one...

anyone who would like a P-40 warhawk (as opposed to the P-40 Tomahawk produced by 21c) here you go. Virtually spot on 1/18. I don't know what the price is. But if interested do some digging for the Art Tech P-40 Warhawk.

the b-17 is here:

Hopefully a cheaper airframe only kit version to follow. It's about 1/20 scale.

Piper Cub, can be used as L4 Grasshopper. About 1/17, u/c needs work and tail is a bit round but not bad. Might be a cheaper airframe only version come out in time.

Another B-17. This one is a bit nicer (i think) than the one i mentioned a few posts above. If nothing else it is a different paint scheme. It's by Freewing and should be available in airframe only form eventually for much lower price. Looks pretty sharp. About 1/19 scale.

check out the Skyraider in this thread. Exact dimensions yet to be confirmed but it should be almost exactly 1/18. Looks pretty sharp. Retail price i've seen on the airframe only is just $60 (to be confirmed).

Awesome! I've been lamenting not having a Skyraider since Admiral's demise. And a Tempest would be awesome as well if they keep that in scale. Keep us posted when they're made available!

F-22 Raptor. Works out to 1/18.9 scale but the wings are a bit small for it (very unusual with r/c)...wingspan works out to 1/19.5 scale. Paint job looks better in person that in pics. Really needs a tinted canopy.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... duct=17532

wait a few mnutes and you will be offered it for $59.

Awesome! The Spitfire (in the pic at the bottom) that they carry is also pretty close to 1:18. If an airframe-only option could be found, that would be a much cheaper option than old 21C versions.

unfortunately there don't seem to be any airframe only options for these Sky Angel minis. Some other manufacturers do offer airframe only but so far not for these. Makes them a bit pricey as a result.

The wildcat i will get, even if a cheaper option doesn't become available.

Stuka G coming. Looks pretty nice. Seems a bit underscale to me, maybe around 1/20?

Should be out in the next few weeks.

PBY Catalina coming. Looks pretty nice. Nice paint job and markings, clear waist blisters. A bit on the small side though, works out to about 1/21 scale.

The B-17 and Catalina look great. Definitely want the B-17. Let us know if you see the airframe only for sale.
I finally started working on the B-25 so hoping to have it done soon!

I love all these RC planes that are close to 1/18 but the RC thing is use less to me. I would only buy them to add to my static model collection in 1/18. That said they are not very detailed. Is there anyone who has customized any of these who can give me pointers as to how to create more of a model look and not the foam? Is there a paint and sand process? what about props, how do you get realistic propellers and hubs?
