I don't know how much time I'll have to work on them this weekend, plenty going on. Air Show at Jones Beach and American Airpower Museum in Farmingdale.

Looks GOOD!

My sidecar kits arrived late Friday afternoon!!! I've got to tell you guys this is one hell of a kit. The detail is incredible, each kit is packaged in a zip-lock bag and the instructions are straight forward.
If any of you are hesitating...Don't. It is well worth the price!!!!!!!
Once more Pickelhaube has out done Himself. Nice Job!

My work is not entirely accurate as I left on all the stowage, but it does the trick. This is what Hasbro should have released initially, but at least Pickelhaube pulled through with another cool kit

What was it like to put together ?

Desides sanding and fill. THAT IS ALWAYS A PAIN FOR RESIN KITS.
What was the hardest thing to do/build ?

Anybody else built their's yet ?

Thanks Pickelhaube! The kit was pretty easy to put together - much easier than, say, the SDK 222

Of course there was the sanding and filling, but not too much. The hardest part, for me, was getting the Indy bike apart to take out the original wheels. The next tricky (or really more tedious) part was the wheels. They are quite delicate and the flash must be trimmed and each spoke sanded carefully. Assembly of the sidecar body and frame were no sweat and fit into the bike no problem.

I've since made one change from whats seen in the picture: I removed the wheels on the bike and got the brake pads on the correct side

Tman, You've done a great job on that sidecar! Oh come on the SDK 222 wasn't that hard a kit... Just one more of Pickelhaubes fabulous kits. As for the sidecars....I need to set aside some time to do these.

The holes on the wheels were a pain. I brushed each wheel with a brush to try and prevent it happening. But they are still there.

Use putty fill like Squadron Green Stuff or White Stuff. I use Bondo Glazing Putty . I like it because it is red and you can see it better. it also sticks to paint.

1.You need to wash the parts first with mild dish soap rinse and allow to dry.
2.Sand off flash
3. Fill holes.
4.Wash parts agin.
5. Paint using a primer.
6.Sand and fill holes.
7. Prime again.
8. Assemble using CA/Super glue. Makesure the mating parts are scaped free of paint so they will bond.
9. Paint

The only brass tube that you need to cap is the sidecar axel. Paint alone should keep the wheel on. To fill the tube just use your putty.

Washing is a important step. Because I use a mould release which is oily and paint may not adhere.

I also find that if you use a touch of denature alcohol in the putty it could be easier to use on those wheel holes. I use a xacto to appy the putty.

Here is one I built

Speaking of putty, On the past couple of Pickelhaube kits I've built, I found that the Squadron putty (green or white) works well for filling larger gaps as it can be packed into larger spaces better and then sanded down. When filling smaller cracks or smoothing porous or rough surfaces, I've had success with Tamiya gray putty. It is a little more "wet" and tends to spread a little more smoothly. It will not fill large gaps as well, however.

Yes it is but I have a temporary hold on taking new orders.

I am presently trying to fill past due orders while getting out a couple of new projects.
