Not sure if someone has mentioned this already, but the theory on multiple versions of the Dauntless from AT appears to be confirmed.

From the BCA newsletter:
"Admiral Toys will be launching its new SBD Dauntless later this year with several different versions available. "

Guessing this means the one pictured as an exclusive just means an exclusive paint scheme. Funny thing is that the scheme shown is awesome and potentially hard to top. :D

Well, I had the opportunity to go to the Military Toy Shop today and talk with the fine folks there. We are both in the Dayton area. I got to see pictures of the box art, pics of the prototype, and some info on the different options. The total package looked great. I am certainly in for one.
I stopped to talk with the father and his two boys that run the operation at MTS. They are good people and real plane nuts. They had the canopy to a Helldiver just chilling out in there lobby, along with their personal collection of models and other aviation items. They had a great selection and were very helpful. I had never seen a GMP diecast before, and I think I might have to fork out the bucks for one. It was a really great experience, and I can say for sure that I am looking forward to getting that SBD.

I wish I could them to you--the pics were a file from AT (in it was other cool stuff that they said I couldn't look at till after TF) Like I said though, the Dauntless pics were sweet and the proposed options sound cool too.

Sorry, not a photo of the 1:18 version... but here's a 1:1 scale SBD Dauntless I did a photoshoot with last year. It's our SBD-5 Dauntless

I've seen this one! The collection you guys have at the museum is simply outstanding :D :D ! I try to visit or catch a flight demo as much as I can. And been going to the annual airshow every year since 2002. The pics you take, are they taken while on one of the B-25's you have right?

Depends really. Mostly it's in our Cessna photo planes (210 or 172). Lately it's been a Twin Engine Baron. B-25 is a little costly to do air-to-air shoots all the time in.

Just got off the phone with Military Toys shop and cancelled my pre-order and had them charge me the full amount up front for the Dauntless. I didnt want to mess with the pre-order deal. Mine is all paid for and now all I have to do is wait!

well, i was going to order the AT Dauntless from Military Toy Shop but the only shipping option was for UPS. I'm not going to pay the $40+ that UPS will charge me in brokerage charges for bringing the item across the border, so i guess i'll wait and see what other versions come out.

I'm surprised they only offer UPS for shipping and not USPS too. Cheaper and no brokerage fees.

Oh well.

When I talked to Kent originally, my intent was to find out if USPS will be available since that was the main hicup to buying from them. He told me they're in discussions to do that and that if I request priority shipping in the remarks of my order they'd be very happy to do that. I think I'd also recently seen, somewhere on their site that they now offer USPS shipping. Mabbe that hasn't gotten the scripting for the actuall order yet.

Aferguson and Other International Customers,

We are in the middle of changing our shipping options now. In the meantime if you place an order, specify you would like USPS shipping in the comments box.

Aferg, where you out of? Mexico, Canada, Hawaii, or Alaska (in descending of DC priority)?

canada. i have no idea why UPS charges those absurd brokerage fees on international orders. I avoid using them at all costs because of it. Must cost them a ton of business...far more than they make from those charges.

Hey, I'm originally from Tchasinkdit Lake (don't expect me to spell it right), right outside of Burns Lake, BC.

I went to the 9th ID after applying to the RMC at Kingston. I was politely informed that my HS diploma from California didn't met their minimum HS requirements! Which, of course, led to much else.

Hey, is there by any chance an exact date, or month that the SBD Dauntless is shipping?

Interesting site

I came across this history of #2106. Very interesting!!!
http://hsfeatures.com/features04/marine ... t1jl_1.htm

Also came across this:
http://www.internetmodeler.com/2006/may ... ntless.php

If that is correct, Admiral could do a repaint depicting the exact same aircraft in an earlier paint scheme! Pretty cool, huh?
